We need someone to write a script to calculate the maximum points and the ingredients needed for any 3 combinations of flavours. Basicly, given 3 flavours, you should calculate the amount of points every ingredient gives, and then return the top 6. There is already a tabel with values for each ingredient in place.

...Huh? I think the table is fine as it is... Also, please use your signature next time you post on the talk page.
I was working on that! Didn't have an account yet... I think the table is mighty fine (I made it), but not handy enough to get the best possible reward from cooking. And I can't really make another table with the best 4 items for every combination of 3 flavours, because that would take 5*4 =20 possible combinations of flavours..Skyeam (talk) 12:42, July 11, 2012 (UTC)
If the table would become sortable like it should, everyone can get the right flavours determined easily. THARKON 12:56, July 11, 2012 (UTC)
Well, you made the table sortable (I'm thankful for that), but the problem is that the best food is determined by more than just 1 flavour. Ideally, for the flavours x,y and z, you should have 6 ingredients with primary, secondary and tertiary flavours equals to x,y and z. Sadly, this is only the case for 3 ingredients, the other 3 must be determined by fulfilling as much as possible. Something like this would be quite handy:
That way one can easily see which ingredients would be the best to choose. The formula for calculating the points of each ingredient would be fairly straightforward:
For which chosen is 0 or 1, depending on wether or not it is one of the 3 flavours required for the food, and ingredient is the value that ingredient has for that kind of flavour (as seen in the table).
Steel girders give 60 points as well. If it's true that iron girders actually give 60 points, then I'm not really sure why Jagex bothered to make a distinction...
You can get spin tickets from doing the chores (although I doubt cooking since it's a specialized method). I got one mining and logic would assume you could also get one from smithing/construction. Jetdeagon (talk) 23:39, July 11, 2012 (UTC)
Interesting. This would also indicate that strange rocks are obtainable, since spin tickets for skilling only come from things that can give rocks. Michagogo (talk) 10:02, July 12, 2012 (UTC)
When I talk to Oomad arrow, he just says come back later?Edit
I think f2p can only do the preparations once, not once a day. Might just be a glitch though.
I expect the Gielnor Games will reward points as well. Aximillio 03:10, July 15, 2012 (UTC)
At the rate of point gain compared to the total price of everything in the shop, it'd be a HUGE mistake on Jagex's part if this was the only thing that gave points. If not the Gielinor Games, other opportunities should arise. 98.249.218.100 10:03, July 15, 2012 (UTC)
Can someone revert the chart back to the previous version without the item names in each box? The names are in the chart above, and I assume on mouseover. Adding the names in each box for the 1 person that can't match pictures, makes the chart more than double in size, and makes it a pain if you play with multiple browser windows open. Done. I agree, it was really annoying, since it made it harder to quickly see the combination. Whoever can't match pictures, deal with it.
I don't know how to make dropdown boxes, there's probably a template for that though, but it seems like it would be best to have three dropdown boxes that let the user select the different tastes, and it would then provide the best combination.
