[edit] Comparison of Lumbridge and Barbarian Village lure spots

Is the Lumbridge spot actually faster in terms of fishing and banking than the Barb village spot? In lumbridge you have to walk back to the castle, up a flight of stairs and into the bank, while you can use the edgeville bank for barbarian village, which is a far more linear route. Personally i've found barbarian village to be quicker. Sol Levante 07:55, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

In the absence of data, I chose to remove the recommendation of which spot to use. Testing the time it takes to go between the bank and the fishing spots would help to solidify things, but I would also probably say that Barbarian Village is going to be faster. Troacctid 05:24, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

If you sell the fish caught at Lumbridge at the general store, Lumby river luring is faster than Barb Village.

[edit] Exp

Need exp for fishing... --TimeStopper 22:05, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

what are the quests that give fishing exp?

[edit] Equipment

Should each equipment have it's own page? --Richard1990 22:40, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

Evil Bob is definitely not 'fishing only', I get him all the time when alching, and I've had him a couple of times in combat situations too. --Eucarya 23:23, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Complete

There, I guess I'm done revising. IMO, this is one of the best articles we currently have! --Richard1990 21:32, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

Would it make sense to mention or link to the Fishing Contest? 66.245.17.26 22:24, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Added fishing types

I added all the types for each kind of fishing. --Nomecks 13:49, 15 July 2006(UTC)

[edit] Fishing Changed

With the new update the fishing animations have been changed. Maybe these should be updated?

[edit] Prices

Is there a source for these prices? Valid sources would include RS forums, Tipit Forums. Just a quick question.

[edit] mistake!

In the Harpoon and cage fishing spots, "This is the only spot where free players can fish tuna, swordfish, and lobsters." is wrong. Free players can fish these in the Wilderness fishing spot 211.28.157.61 11:47, 20 November 2006 (UTC) fixed it (same person)

[edit] Rainbow fish

Hey, I just tried out some stripy feather fishing.

Here's the information.

Rainbow fish

Fishing XP: 80 Cooking XP: 110 Heals: 11 hit point

I do not know how to add it into the fishing and cooking section however. So can someone kindly stick that information in?

Thanks

I have just the the Hungry Fish attack me, feel free to update it, as needed.

[edit] ScapeRune

the name "Scaperune" needs to be properly capitalized the "R" in Scape"R"une so it is ScapeRune.--Alex 18:03, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Random Event

On most servers if you look at the karjarma docks you can see up 2 I,ve seen 25 autoers there at once. Random events dont wrok very well at stoping them if u ask me. --(someone who didn't sign...)

That is true, the karamja (misa point) fishing spot is heavily infested with auto fishers. This is partly because this is the one of the two places in the f2p world that has available lobsters, tuna, and swordfish. This is also one of the few fishing places that has no npc guarding it. Until Jagex puts up some monster npc, those auto fishers will keep coming back, in spite of the risk of random events. --(someone who didn't sign...)
Do you report them? Rule 7 reports help the automatic macro detection system, so just report any suspected macroer. Reporting helps passing the time, too :-) (Jagex tells me no harm is done if you accidentally report a legitimate player.) --Paania 14:32, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

COncerning reporting, yes i do report them. Unfortunately, players that make auto accounts or macroers are making more autos at a rate faster than jagex can ban autoers. as a result, problem with macroers continue despite the reporting system. so far, only the presence of monster npcs or resources in the wilderness has detered macroer's activity (but i dont think all players would aggree to this countermeasure). --Fatman4ever 05:07, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Water Strike?

I keep seeing something that looks like water strike when I fish. Is it part of a random event or a fun weapon?--63.3.15.130 00:53, 5 January 2008 (UTC) This is part of the big fish random event, right? --63.215.28.105 21:48, 7 January 2008 (UTC) It's from the big fish random :)

[edit] Multiple Fish/Spot

On the spots that give multiple fish (i.e. Trout and Salmon, Shrimp and Anchovies, Mackerel and Herring, Tuna and Swordfish, and any others that I've missed out), should an approximate ratio be calculated of the fish? Like, for example, for every 10 Trout caught, on average 4 Salmon are caught. Also, would this ratio improve (more of the fish with better experiance given) as fishing levels increase?

At the moment I'm fly fishing Trout and Salmon, at level 65, so I can provide some data. Anybody else who is willing to help is welcome to. I shall post the results for my first 100 inventory-fulls soon. --Gaz Lloyd 21:39, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

1589 Trout to 1011 Salmon, which is roughly, Trout:Salmon, 3:2 (Levels 63-66) --Gaz Lloyd 21:05, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

I only fly fish occasionally, but I have about 1900 trout to about 2200 salmon from a variety of levels above 70. Troacctid 22:51, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Changes to summoning

Can anybody with 74+ summoning help out with the fish the familiars forage now? The information up now is inaccurate, but I don't want to fix it with incomplete information. I know that at least the crab has changed--now it catches Pike, Cod, Seaweed, and Oysters. Confirmation on the other too would be great. Troacctid 23:34, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fishing Level =

Will a higher fishing lvl allow a player to fish faster?

Yes it will. Troacctid 09:05, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Profitable?

The article says that barb fishing sturgeon will not turn a profit. However, Caviar goes for over 500 on the GE and thus a load of caviar could make you more then 12k. There is a deposit box just north of fishing spot and I can see it being profitable.71.35.190.95 23:11, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fishing hiscore

The new requirements for a player to be in the hi-scores for fishing is level 46 with at least 68,780 exp.Knexwiz13 20:53, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

sorry about that last edit of mine i eddited the wrong spot lol Aaroncampf 22:39, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Fish can now be dropped without interupting fishing

The recent update has made it possible to keep fishing after dropping fish. Same sort of deal for Wcing and mining as well. Jagex has confirmed it's not a bug, but it may be reverted.

[edit] easy fishing

fishing is not interrupting because rarely random events happen. oops i forgot to sign!Fauzer 09:54, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] highscores

[edit] Ibis

While fishing for salmon and trout in the Shilo Village, an ibis will only produce swordfish, no tuna and when fishing for monkfish the ibis will only produce swordfish.

The bold part seems weird. --QP cape FTW Inhaps talk 20:53, September 17, 2009 (UTC)

It is my understanding that an ibis only ever produces swordfish.  Psycho Robot Talk Cont File:Guthix vrobe top.png 21:54, September 17, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Fly fishing rates?

I'm wondering if the chances of salmon are affected by your fishing lvl. I'm going to post a 1000 feather test 63-64 fishing and if somebody could post a lower or higher fishing lvl rate it would be appreaciated.--Moneypony 19:23, November 7, 2009 (UTC)

Used up 1000 feathers at lvl 63-64 fishing and got 403 salmon and 597 trouts.--Moneypony 19:48, November 7, 2009 (UTC)
