[edit] Black Mask drop rate
Someone had added that the drop rate of the Black Mask was 1 in 800 due to the Smoking Kills quest, and the greater market for them due to the Slayer Helm.
Could someone please help verify if this is accurate, and if so, I will add it in. Dogtag333 12:24, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
It most likely is because I've been there for days and no mask drop. However someone added 30-100 kills for a black mask and I can tell you that is definitely wrong.
The black mask is about a 2:1576 ratio i got my first one at 1-100 kills 2nd one was at 387th kill now i'm at 700 kills or so with none, the ring of wealth seems to lower the chance.
The current claim that a Black mask is "not extremely rare" and a drop is 1/300 are both definitely wrong.
I've killed about 560 of these things through slayer tasks and a further 200 through general boredom. I've not had one drop.

The drop rate claim of 1/300 is most definitively wrong, the drop rate is of course 1/150.
- Oh yes, of course.
- Unless someone presents me with a fully comprehensive drop log of 10,000+ monsters, I see no reason to list any estimated drop rate. If you want a 'rareness' thing, I'd use semi-rare or rare - not a drop you get very often, but one you get a lot more often than the likes of a visage.

Got 3 long bones, 1 curved bone, 3 blue charms, 4 torstol seeds, and 2 black masks in about 1000 kills. If they considered to be "rare" and "very rare", the black mask should be too.

So they way the ring of wealth apparently works is when you get a rare drop, it'll make the drop more valuable. The black mask alchs for 1800 gp. It's also in the same drop table category as a rune spear, rare. So it's probably not a good idea to pack one with you, is it?
- It seems like that, I went there with a ring of wealth and got no black masks in over 300 kills, even though the article says it's 1 in AROUND 150... Maybe I'm just very unlucky though...

omfg, had a ring of wealth on, and i read this article saying not to have a ring of wealth. therefore, i took it off. on my next kill i got a black mask!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! definately no ring of wealth when looking for black masks!!!--12:07, 19 August 2009 (UTC)90.216.34.188
- Of course getting a mask in the next drop is just pure luck. I don't believe that the ring of wealth would considerable lower the amount of masks dropped; if it did, then you would get dragon/rune spears more often. What's weird is that a month ago, I was killing cave horrors in hope of a mask, I killed about 500 of them with a ring of wealth, no mask. 3 weeks later, I went into the cave, killed exactly FIVE cave horrors with NO RING OF WEALTH. I got a black mask. That is crazy lucky. Either me and 90.216.34.188 just have awesome luck like that, or, the RoW just TOTALLY nerfs drops.

Media:Example.ogg since people say with and without i killed them switching off wealth each kill. i got 2 with wealth and 3 without so you might want to just not bring one, also i was there for about 4 hours to get 5 masks. dodo68.224.51.55 06:09, November 14, 2009 (UTC) Thier right bringing a ring of wealth doesn't make a difference as far as drop rates go. I hunt them to make my money sometimes you can be down there for a long time before you get what you want I'd have to dya the drop rate is around 1/200 it all depends on one of my slayer tasks I got 2 in one trip.the masks aren't as rare to get as people say they are.
