This talk page is for discussing the Armadyl page.

Er, there is proof (though at this time i couldn't quote it) that Armadyl is good. Somewhere in one of the quests (probably Temple of Ikov), he's mentioned as being Saradomin's predecessor. If I ever find out where I'll quote it at you. Can't really be bothered to revert though, considering it would probably escalate into an argument. Just thought I'd leave this here. Armadyl's goodness confirmed by Jagex. JalYt-Xil-Vimescarrot 19:29, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
Armadyl isent really good or bad. He is the god of Law and Order. --Tealclock 02:43, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
The article says Armadyl is a minor god but the template at the bottom disagrees?
Armadyl's benign alignment is confirmed by Jagex in the god letters, specifically one from Saradomin. And, in his time, he was quite a significant god. Also, he's not the god of law or order. He's the god of Supreme Justice.
Please sign your name when post. Also please state where did he say that, the gods letter was known to be a non lore thing and I read the gods letter before a few weeks ago, nowhere said that. So please link to the proof and then it can be changed. Kinglink15 (talk) 17:03, April 22, 2013 (UTC)

Bandos? Edit

I've come up with(Another) theory. It struck me as strange that of the 4 main combatants in the God wars dungeon, 2 are exact opposites(as Guthix has confirmed many times) So I thought: why can't Armadyl and Bandos be opposites? Armadyl is a good god, of law order and peace. His followers seem intelligent(or at least the guardians do) He seems to be merciful and the Aviansies even seem to have had a society. He presumably left Gielinor(If he did) because of the end of his beloved Aviantese, while bandos only loves bloodshed. He is an extremely cruel god who loves killing, untrustworthy and unadvanced(he even sits on a throne of bronze) with massive armies of different unintelligent species instead of only 1 race. Bandos doesn't seem to have another opposite and if Guthix would want to keep balance and stuff he would need an opposite for every god(dess), unless that one would be balanced like him too. Zaros isn't the god of pure evil most believe him to be so it probably isn't him. Please post your critics here.--Nantafiria 17:33, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Well, Guthix did not create the other gods, so there doesn't need to be balance there, I have heard of Armadyl as the god of purity (Rswiki userboxes) with Zaros as impurity, plus they are the predecessors of Sara and Zammy.--Armadyl helmetLong Live ArmadylArmadyl helmet 01:08, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

Zaros is the god of Fate and Control, as you would know if you a) read the page, or b) asked Soran.  He said Zaros wants to become Fate, and be worshipped, but forgotten almost (inference I drew from the page + Soran dialogue).  They believe that he is ever-present, and is watching over them.  At first, I too thought he was one of the more evil Gods, like Sliske and Zamorak, but now I realise.

P.S. I am not Zarosian, I support Armadyl.  Nantafiria, to answer your initial question, yes, in a way Bandos and Armadyl are opposites, as Bandos wants war, while Armadyl wants a peaceful world. 13:24, January 4, 2014 (UTC)

Name Edit

How is his name pronounced? Someone should put that in the article Death reap 02:38, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Armadyl's pronunciation Edit

I think it is pronounced "ar-mah-dill" but maybe that's because I'm Australian. It could be "ar-ma-dale", though I think the first is more accurate.Bennettjamin 02:48, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

God of Justice?Edit

When I look around on this Wiki and on RS forums, I see that a lot of people think Armadyl is the God of Order, Purity and/or Law. Nobody could know that, because it was never mentioned. I find it strange that people jump to conclusions so fast. These are all speculations after all. Moreover, Saradomin is the God of Order, so Armadyl can't be... And now we see in the last Postbag (40), that Idria refers to Armadyl as 'Lord of Justice'. So it seems clear to me that he/she is. Hippodo 3113 15:17, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Yes but Armadyl was Saradomin's predeccesor, so saradomin could have inheirited the title from himKenneth C. L. 04:53, February 19, 2010 (UTC)

God of...Edit

Isnt Armadyl the god of the skies as well. That should make him more than a minor god, as he is the god of supreme Justice AND the skies.

-Tesarasleader (Armadyl Seer ingame)

The thing is that Armadyl was not so much a minor god in his time. He was, by all indication, on par with Saradomin, Bandos, etc (with the exception of Zaros). But with his patron race all but extinct, and his resultant fleeing from Gielinor, his power is no longer felt in the world. As it's stated (though I forget where) that all gods, except Guthix, gain their power to a greater or lesser degree from their followers. With Armadyl having no followers, his power would have taken a nosedive.

Armadyl was actually a major god, and became forgotten due to his followers switching from worshipping him to Saradomin. The reason why is being Armadyl actually passed his 'role' onto Saradomin.

Ignoring followers?Edit

Well, it's just an idea I thought of, however, Armadyl supposedly chose to leave Gielinor due to the death of his beloved race, the Aviantese, right? So, then if he choose to leave, could it be argued he has turned his back on Gielinor, including his followers, meaning their prayers were never answered? This would explain why they chose to move to Saradominism.Zaox (talk) 18:47, December 22, 2012 (UTC)

Good theory, sounds good, but according to what it is known, Armadyl had more Followers of Aviantese than Humans. only a small order of Humans are shown, that is the Guardian of Armadyl, it is said by Saradomin that Armadyl views his humans Followers ( I might be wrong, this is in the gods letter) where they are at. some may have moved to Saradomin thinknig Armadyl gave his power to him. or they all stayed following him. but slowly dies trying to protect the Staff of Armadyl. So your theory might be true, until we see more information. Kinglink15 (talk) 02:06, April 19, 2013 (UTC)
idk if prayers in rs work the same way as they would in the real world understanding. I also don't know that a lot of Armadyl followers converted to Sadominism.. most of Armadyl's followers were Aviantese (and all but the ones in the GWD) were killed, so it seems unlikely (and unknown) there was a big deal of other races following him and leaving RS with Armadyl or converting to other religions. But it too seems likely to me that you may not be able to contact your god if he's left this dimension/world, just as Zaros had to use a Communication portal to contact Azzy... so unanswered prayers (be it response in talking, or answered wishes), due to his absence, seems very plausible to me :3 . . . Race: Armadyl & Taw-Paak Edit

How do we now they're aviantese? Armadyl has wings, but so does the Guthix Raptor, for the rest we don't know how he looks. Taw doesn't really look like an aviantese that we see in the gwd. it could be a similar thing like we see with many birds (like Peacocks) where males look different to females. And yes, rs is lenient with the term race... but... how do we know they're aviantese, and not a different kind of bird? Just wondering, because we seem to be randomly strict and lenient with lore . . . Yours, Void Knight banner Enquidou Talk Quest Icon Crest . . 12:12, May 31, 2013 (UTC)

The God Emissaries FAQ states there are multiple types of aviansie: Taw'Paak is of a different type than those seen in the God Wars Dungeon, but is an aviansie nevertheless. Osbourne also states that, before he ascended to godhood, Armadyl was an aviansie himself. Divination Xsdvd Talk Duellist's cap (tier 1) 12:21, May 31, 2013 (UTC)

Armadyl; World Event 2Edit

I feel that Armadyl MUST STAY ALIVE. Without him, there is no peace, justice and freedom.

Armadyl is Pacifist though, but has reasons why he must slay Bandos. War can disrupt and damage that kind of peace very easily. Armadyl is a benevolent god and that's why we should support Armadyl, because justice can bring a significant level of peace.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 21:01, December 6, 2013.

Armadyl's ascension and the Staff of Armadyl - conflictEdit

Armadyl in-game: "I ascended to godhood through the use of two artefacts, one of which became known as the Staff of Armadyl."

Mod Osbourne: "So, the Staff of Armadyl was gained from this planet so the Staff of Armadyl wasn't how Armadyl got his power."

We have a lore conflict between an in-game source and a Jmod. --Andorin (Talk) (Contribs) 19:33, December 11, 2013 (UTC)

I noticed that too. I've thrown it into the FAQ. For now, we could assume Armadyl isn't telling everything and wait for our tokens to level up. The WE has "many" more lorefails... 18px-Avatar.png Fswe1 26px-Brassica_Prime_symbol.svg.png 19:37, December 11, 2013 (UTC)
No... this is not necessarily a lore fail. He could've used an artafact/killed a god on Abinnah, then aquire the staff on Gielinor and use that to ascent even further.  . . . Yours, Void Knight banner Enquidou Talk Quest Icon Crest . . 21:05, December 11, 2013 (UTC)

Armadyl coloursEdit

Armadly's associated colours are listed as "White, pale blue, silver, amber, orange". I have a theory on this that may make sense.

God Wars and before, Armadyl was associated with the colours white, pale blue and silver, for whatever reason. But then Zamorak blasted Forinthry, wiping out the armies within that land, which included the entirety of Armadyl's Aviansie troops, and what he thought was the entire Aviansie race.

But then he returned to Abinnah, found the remnants of the Aviansie there, and he changed his form, his "aspect", to that of the phoenix. And then he returned to Gielinor, after the edicts were lifted, and it is at that time that the colours red and amber came to represent him also.

Is this logical to anyone else? Small recharge gem AnselaJonla Slayer-icon 10:30, December 21, 2013 (UTC)

I agree completely with you. Similar to Zaros (different methods, no empire) and Saradomin (different look) also changing slighly for this age. Armadyl has both: more orange-y phoenix look, and fight the ones that only want war, etc. Maybe... we should use a switch template for that similar to Saradomin's version? . . . Yours, Void Knight banner Enquidou Talk Quest Icon Crest . . 11:06, December 21, 2013 (UTC)
Why would we use a switch infobox just because there's the possibility of different colours being associated with him pre-return to Gielinor? For one thing, it's speculation, for another, we don't actually have a picture of what he looked like then. Now that Armadyl has killed Bandos, will he get an increase in power?  Will he become more powerful, and become Tier 2 God, or stay the same?  In fact, although killing a God grants you godhood, does killing another while being a God make you more powerful in general? Thank you for reading, and hope you can answer my question. 20:11, January 22, 2014 (UTC), Vanguard of Armadyl!

Possibly. We'll have to wait for the game update FAQ to come out (ETA Monday 27-01). 18px-Avatar.png Fswe1 26px-Brassica_Prime_symbol.svg.png 20:24, January 22, 2014 (UTC)
Zamorak and Guthix basically had physical contact with the god they killed. Sliske teleported off quickly, that's why there's soo much mystery around him and his ascention. Armadyl is even more iffy: he mgiht not even have operated the Divine focus himself, and even if he did, it was at such a distance, I think he may well have received less power than Sliske. But yes, FAQ! :3 . . . Yours, Void Knight banner Enquidou Talk Quest Icon Crest . . 21:27, January 22, 2014 (UTC)
I doubt it, I believe for them to gain another god's power they have to kill them with an Elder Artifact. Guthix killed Skargoroth with that Elder Sword, Zamorak attacked Zaros with the Staff of Armadyl, but Armadyl killed Bandos by using the divine energy of Gielinor, not using an Elder Artifact. Remember that when Saradomin beat Zamorak and gained some of his power, he was wearing Crown Archival, which I think pretty much shows that if a being uses an Elder Artifact to kill or damage a god, they gain their power. (Saradomin used his magic obtained from becoming a god from Crown Archival.) This theory could also prove that Sliske, using magic empowered by the Staff of Armadyl, drained Guthix of his power and can ascend should he wish to. Baptiejames (talk) 11:44, January 24, 2014 (UTC)
Ok, thanks, noted.  Had the same thoughts myself.  But if Armadyl had killed Bandos with his (Bandos's) mace/ his own axe-type thing, would he have got some of his power?  Supposedly, as Bandos and Armadyl wielded their respective weapons, they could have killed the other with them, otherwise their would be no point to them.  Anyway, getting back to my first question, I read somewher, probably either Guthix or Gods page, that when a god dies they don't go onto the afterlife and their power is sort of, spread around the world.  (Unless a God has killed them with an Elder Artefact, like Guthix and Skargaroth).  As Armadyl was nearby to Bandos when he died, and is a God, would he not have got slightly more powerful.  Anyways, I'll just wait until the next FAQ or Postbag from the Hedge ( wrote one to Ta'kara a while ago, never came out-yet (; ).
DivineLaw (talk) 19:21, January 24, 2014 (UTC)
P.S. Regarding the statement 'my first question', when I started the article I didn't have an account.
Didn't Sara ascent another tier due to the surplus of Guthixian energy his team gathered? I think it's more likely that you can only gather another god's energy if you are in one way or another able to transfer it to yourself and take the time for it. A hit and run like Sliske did, will certainly not give you the most out of it. ... Well, that's what I think. I remember them saying you don't need to wield an elder artefact when killing a god to ascent. . . . Yours, Void Knight banner Enquidou Talk Quest Icon Crest . . 22:07, January 25, 2014 (UTC)
