Just letting you no, the image someone just put onto the page goes to a red link ([[Abyssal Vine Whip Special.gif|Abyssal_Vine_Whip_Special.gif]])
Some Tests Edit
Using the abyssal vine whip spec once will produce one vine. Spec restoring and using it again right after will produce a second vine, but they'll only be in effect at the same time for one hit. I.E. 1. whip spec, 2. first hits, 3. whip spec, 4. first and second hit, 5. first disappears second hits. It is also confirmed that any damage done by vines will be counted for soul split. --GrandNarcissist 02:29, July 13, 2011 (UTC)
The vine whip special is underrated. This is, I believe, for a few reasons:
1. The special hits slow. Only one hit every 1.2 seconds. 2. The hits aren't very high. 3. They continue to attack with the vine whip during the special.
But here's the difference: You can switch weapons during the special.
Imagine this. Non-skulled PvP scenario. Protected items: Vine Whip, Chaotic Rapier, DClaws, Ring of Vigour.
Drink one dose of Super Attack and Super Strength. Throw a Bolas or freeze the opponent. Spec with the Vine whip, using 54% of special bar. You have 46% left. Switch to DClaws. Special. (remember while this is happening, the whip spec is hitting the opponent). Then swap to Rapier and hit 300s.
Without Rocktail-brewing, there's little chance the opponent will survive. Not only did you just claw spec them, dealing 400-600 damage, and hitting with Rapier, but you're also dealing an average of 50 damage every 1.2 seconds.
The Whip special isn't meant to be used on its own. It's meant to be used in conjunction with other weapons.
Not to mention the poison damage? <3Mofo Pr0 13:43, July 13, 2011 (UTC)
Should make note under trivia that the spec could be used with out wielding the weapon.
There is a glitch involving the Verac's set as well. Use the Vine Whip special, and flip back to a Verac's Flail, combined with the rest of the set. I've had the Vines hitting 350s... Which is very.. strange.. The-Dreamcaster 01:20, July 17, 2011 (UTC)
Poison damage max hit?Edit
I think we should include this information if someone already has try to make it more visible.
If we got this in it would be helpful, also im predicting a sudden crash on this item,Fdr321.
Does it only poison when you use the special? 220.127.116.11 20:47, July 13, 2011 (UTC)
Ah,i have just read that it only deals poison damage on the special attack, and also why do people keep deleting my trivia? -Fdr321
The regular attacts have a chance ot inflict poison. Says that somewhere in the article.
Additional Damage in Multi-Combat Edit
The whip special hits additional foes in Multi Combat areas. It apparently targets, at random 4 other targets next to your target and deals the 10 additional hits to them also. I learned this while killing nechs in the Chaos Tunnels. They and their spawns are only 1 space, so I don't know how the special reacts to larger monsters like Kalphites. 18.104.22.168 23:25, July 13, 2011 (UTC)
- I've played around with this a bit, myself, and I've seen that it can hit up to 3 monsters, total. It's important to note that I said monsters - it doesn't seem to apply to players. 19:25, July 20, 2011 (UTC)
11 Hits Edit
I've tested this special a few times, and use it regularly. I've noticed that it actually executes 11 hits. There's the initial hit (when you swing the whip and activate the special), and then 10 further hits beyond that. They all function the same way, though, as vine attacks. I put that information into the article.22:38, July 19, 2011 (UTC)
Max hit of this weapon with Dharoks at less than 10% lp + overloads + turmoil?
Dharoks hits around 1,000 at that points (more on non-player targets with salve and such).
So this means you get a 10 hits at 200 lp max damage at 20% increased accuracy over the dharoks axe? With the addition of your own personal hits?
Since of course you will be able to hit up to 1,000 damage yourself during this process. This sounds like so much BAMF that I do not think anyone here at wiki could handle it! I kinda wana see a test :P
"Confirmed" Glitch Edit
Um, here's an idea: If a new piece of content - let's say, I don't know, an Abyssal Vine Whip - has a supposed glitch, and it's been "confirmed," let's maybe link to some proof of that or throw in a screengrab or something. Doesn't help this site's credibility to run around stating whether something is confirmed without any tangible proof.04:59, July 22, 2011 (UTC)
From a mod in patch notes:
"This is correct, only the special attack has been updated. Each hit of the special attack vine now hits for 1/3rd of your strength rather than 1/5th of your strength as it used to. The special attack thus does the equivalent of 3.3 of your hits over its duration rather than the 2 it used to."
1/5=20%, not 25% as stated in trivia. Fixed

Dying in wilderness Edit
Does anybody know what happens if you die in the wilderness with a vine whip? I.e. does pker recieve the whip and the vine as a drop or does the vine vanish and drop coins or just a whip instead? 22.214.171.124 19:25, August 2, 2011 (UTC)
48 or 480? Edit
It says the whip starts poisoning at 48 damage.. Does it mean 48 or 480? o.o
Someone (ip-adres = not a wiki account) just added alc value is 5 mill, I strongly doubt this is correct, can it be double-checked? Shinigamidaio 10:35, October 16, 2011 (UTC)
Apparently the sell option to a general store is the low alc value and with the low alc value you can the high alc value...without hi alcing the whip at all. I am not sure what the formula is though =(. Someone mentioned in the wiki cc so I'll ask around or try and find it on here. And no I doubt it is 5m. Someone has put down 200k though which seems about right but I'll double check. Ancient Fofo 02:12, October 23, 2011 (UTC)
Darhok's and Verac's Edit
If you use the vine whip special and then switch to full Veracs or dharoks set it gives you the set effect into the continued hits. (I'm not 100% sure wether this still works or not). I know sosolid2k did a video with it. Video here.
If someone could test that this still works It would be an extremely important thing to add to the page i think. God vivec1 18:32, December 12, 2011 (UTC)
The vine whip special attack does not work with other weapons anymore. Iascan 18:36, December 12, 2011 (UTC)
Abyssal vine whip's special attack Edit
"The abyssal vine whip also has a chance to perform an attack similar to the special attack it had before the Evolution of combat update."
As far as I can tell, this either only occurs with abilities or is false. I've tried to see this attack for myself, and I've even questioned others that use this weapon, and no one has seen such a thing occur. Nothing special here. (talk) 23:11, December 26, 2012 (UTC)
- I slay with vine whip on a regular basis and I don't recall having seen the special since EoC. Is this information even sourced somehow? I find it hard to believe...
