Disputed: 600 Experience Edit

I dispute the recent edit regarding the experience gained. Can somebody prove/disprove this? Shadowdancer 05:02, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

What does the experience entry mean? The experience you get to a combat skill for killing the monster? -- Couchpotato99 20:13, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
It looks like it. Slayer experience = HP of monster. So we're debating how much HP an abyssal demon has. combat xp = 4x HP, btw. I might have a friend who knows. 10:11, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

No need to dispute... Edit

I specialize in monsters. They have 150 HP, absolute fact. 800 total combat experience. I'm removing the dispute tag. Jard Y Dooku 19:43, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

Whip drop rate Edit

Ive been reading on the runescape forums that the drop rate for the whip has been greatly reduced, can someone please look into this? -- 12:16, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

Whip rarity? Edit

So are whips more common to get then rune battleaxes? the wording seems to suggest so..... 11:31, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Rapid 10's? Edit

I have recently wild-pied a few abyssal demons because I was bored, and when my slayer level went back down to 84, the abyssal demons kept attacking at the exact same rate they were attacking at before, and without a damage increase. Should the rapid 10's part be removed? Polo7210 23:10, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

hell yes they are the same as always. rapid 10s if you're a lvl 80 but none any other situation.-- 23:11, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Abyssal Demons max at 8, so even if your a level 3, you will NEVER be hit a 10, unless the rapid 10's were true, which they aren't. Polo7210 21:27, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

Whip drop rate: Edit

I believe it is 1/350 based on a 10,000 kill drop log, shown here - - I believe this is a trustworthy source. Out of 10,000 kills 28 whips were dropped. This is roughly 1/350. Prayer Jedi Talk HS Log Tracker Summoning 07:33, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

Why has the drop rate of whips been changed to 1/750? It was 1/450, it is 1/450, and it has always been 1/450. If Jagex wanted to change such an important drop rate then they would STATE so. Many of the highest rank slayers have confirmed a drop rate of 1/450 and maintain that it hasn't changed. Of course, if you get a whip every 1000 kills then that happens - you're just unlucky. But it doesn't mean players should just change the drop rate on this article just because of their personal unlucky whip count. It is 1/450 and so should be changed to say that.

I don't believe any of those, as I usually have to go 2-4k kills before I get a whip. My first whip was after 9k kills. I think that having the "rare" put down is a bit more common then it actually is. Forum moderator crownFerrelShadowSlayer 16:28, October 24, 2009 (UTC)

Changing it from "rare" to something rarer would be contrary to the experience of everyone else. Mining cape (t) JaydenB Rune pickaxe 05:37, November 4, 2009 (UTC)

whip drop rate for 1/350 is wrong Edit

like some of my friends iv'e been killing abby demons now for about 4 days been over 1k kills so theres new way 1/350 you get a whip drop unless your very lucky.

Ekalb222: it isn't a set drop rate, u cud kill 1 and get a whip, and some people kill loads and not get one. i've had 2 in around 1.5K kills which i thought myself was good. Its all down to luck and some people are and some people aren't =)

Blue Charm Percentage Edit

Saying a 0% blue charm rate is incorrect. I have queried a few people with 85+ slayer and it's rounded out to about 1 in 50-100 kills, so at least 2% drop rate.

Whip Drop Rate without ROW? Edit

anyone kno? im curious how much better a ROW makes the drop rate

It has no effect whatsoever on whips.--

Drop rate Edit

maybe the drop rate is 1/350 with ROW and 1/450 without???

There really is no such thing as a "drop rate", it is a "drop probability" and it is very difficult, if not impossible, to find the probability without knowing the code for the drop table. Each kill, there is a certain percent chance of a drop, there is no "magic number" that triggers a drop.
Slayer-icon Trebooor File:Slayer_helmet_(charged).png‎
06:19, February 10, 2010 (UTC)
Drop rate and probability are the same thing. scoot4.pngscooties 06:42, February 10, 2010 (UTC)
I know, but using the term "rate" really is misleading if someone doesn't understand what it means in context.

I personally killed 25,000+ (lost count) demons and have 36 career whips and I don't think I have killed enough to estimate a drop rate. Statistically, you need hundreds of thousands of kills to get something significant. Let's just leave it at 'rare' and stop coming up with a number. btw, you're one lucky *** to get 3 whips in 1.5k kills. :o Pal2002 06:13, January 22, 2010 (UTC)

Drops of Whips Edit

I Have now entered into the 1k+ of Abyssal Demons. I havent recieved one whip... NO, the items i've been getting are Runes kiteshields, Rune 2h Swords, and so on. Why can't the drop rate just be correct, and set to a standard (being like 1.350-500)

So then people wouldn't get angry. Also, just lately, i've been getting a ton of drops with only ashes....

All said =P

Whip, rare? Edit

I got a whip from just over 100 kills and i had a row on so yeah i would call it uncommon not rare. --Defence cape (t) Rabbit FearArmadyl godsword 22:53, May 14, 2010 (UTC)

Sadly, 100 kills isn't quite enough to get an accurate reading on how rare a whip drop is. (See the previous several sections of this talk page for more data and why we're having such trouble nailing down a drop-rate-range. Cheers, Penderwyll 23:53, May 14, 2010 (UTC)

already ahead of you on that read it way before i posted though i really would call it uncommon if im able to get one after just 100 kills --Defence cape (t) Rabbit FearArmadyl godsword 12:35, May 15, 2010 (UTC)

Just because you get a whip in 100 kills doesn't mean its uncommon-if you got a 3a piece on your first clue scroll, that doesnt mean its common you were just lucky. I have gotten 2 whips in the first 5 kills of a task once, but I am currently on a dry streak of about 2k kills. You will be lucky sometimes and sometimes not but the only way to get a semi-accurate drop rate is do a massive drop log of about 100k kills or more.

messed up drop rate!!! Edit

The real number of whips was 82!!!! not 10 as they say it is!!!! as the drop rate is 1/461

Someone has sabotaged this article!

The drop rate is actually 1/512. This has been stated by Jagex. 06:53, May 16, 2011 (UTC)

I dont think this is correct, if it is. Could someone confirm it? idkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk brooooooo whips rnt rare

Def Knight's QuestionEdit

I know this is off wiki, but is it possible for a lvl 76 to kill an abby demon? Not just that, but getting into an area (other then the abys).

Advice pl0x?

Def Knight

Hey man, you do realise, that you need a level 85 Slayer to kill an Abyssal Demon, which is a rarity for a level 76 combat to have. In combat terms, if you did have 85 Slayer, and 76 combat, I think you'd be able too, as they're combat level, I think is personally based around their defence. They don't tend to hit hard, and when they do, it's not high, but often it can take a while to kill them. TzTok-Gas talk 14:21, July 28, 2010 (UTC)

RuneFest insider session leaks whip drop rate Edit

During the fourth insider session "The Big Questions" on the RuneFest festival, one of the Jagex Moderators, Mod Dean, answered "Do you people secretly change the drop rates of items?" with the following:

" .... If we do ever nerf something, or change it, you will be notified, by the patch notes, if its more significant: in the other news section. I can understand your feelings, hopefully, when you're having a dry streak, and you're not getting that abyssal whip, but nothing has changed subversely , it's still a one in five twelve drop, and it's still like that, you're just having bad luck" [-Corrected this to this exact wording and removed the "mumble-mumble" because I understood what he said there (It was "dry streak")] 20:32, November 20, 2010 (UTC)

Whip is a 1:512 drop!

Source: Glodenox recording of the insider sessions at RuneFest. To watch the exact video click here. The question starts at about 8:47.

Am I mistakingly hearing this? He definitely mentions a drop rate there.  Slayer Azzator talkhsclan# Wooden shield  15:57, September 7, 2010

He did say it but come on... would they really remember the exact drop rate of a item? It's probably around that number and that number is 2^8 2^9 which is a number they may have to work with a lot. But overall, that wasn't a direct answer to "what is the drop rate of an abbysal whip" but is taken from a question about general item drop rates and if they change secrectly and may not be it's drop rate. Until they give a direct answer to "what is the drop rate of an abbysal whip" it should remain 'rare'. Full slayer helmet Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon platebody

Honestly, if I worked at Jagex I'd be sure to know the drop rate of the whip! Who doesn't want to know? I thought that answer was pretty clear, and it isn't in them to lie on a Youtube video answering questions. Player moderator crownarioTalkHSAdv. Log#Dungeoneering-icon120/120 19:22, September 8, 2010 (UTC)
- Response to Supah chuppa's objections. Why wouldn't he know the exact drop rate of Abyssal Whips? He's probably a RuneScape player himself, he's certainly very involved in RuneScape with his job anyway, and as one of the most speculated-on facts about RuneScape ever, he's sees people whining about it and generally going on about it a lot. If you had access to the information I'm sure it'd stick in your mind. Also the 2nd part of your objection is ridiculously pedantic, the question was "Do you ever change the drop rate of items?" His response was "I understand that you get frustrated when you really want an Abyssal Whip drop and aren't getting it, but it's still a 1 in 512 drop." - Seems pretty clear to me. (yes I paraphrased for brevity, but if you dispute that what I wrote is factually the same as what he said you must be mad) 20:32, November 20, 2010 (UTC)

Drop rate higher on slayer tasks? Edit

Hey i heard some ppl saying that the drop rate would be higher if u have the demons as slay task, could that be true?  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 19:19, 5 October 2010 (UTC).

Definitely not. Being on a slayer task in no way affects the drop rate of anything. Player moderator crownarioTalkHSAdv. Log#Dungeoneering-icon120/120 19:22, October 5, 2010 (UTC)

Agreed. Drops/kill aren't higher on slayer tasks. If you're wearing a slayer helm, you're probably killing them faster, so drops/time might be better. --Saftzie (talk) 19:27, October 5, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I lied somewhat. If you're on a Kuradal task, you might lose the Ring of wealth bonus due to wanting to use the Ferocious ring instead, but the core rates don't change whatsoever. Player moderator crownarioTalkHSAdv. Log#Dungeoneering-icon120/120 19:32, October 5, 2010 (UTC)
- Ring of wealth in no way affects whip drop rate 20:12, November 20, 2010 (UTC)
I'm sorry it's so late now, but I can't resist adding this: Since the Ring of Wealth update, it does indeed affect the chance of a whip. The proof of this is that it glows every kill, where it glowing means it had the potential to affect the drop. Since there's a small chance of a whip every kill, and it glows every kill, it must affect the whip's drop rate. Not to mention it was explicitly stated by the Jmods on the Game Update FAQ that week. Player moderator crownarioTalkHSAdv. Log#Dungeoneering-icon120/120 16:42, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

I wouldn't put it past Jagex. I think I get better drops on slayer tasks. No I can't back it up...but that doesn't mean it isn't true. It also appears that people with higher total levels get better drops, but this could also just be perception. No facts...just experience based off getting maxed combat/99 slayer. HaloTalk 19:36, October 5, 2010 (UTC)

I would probably say it seems that way, but isn't the case. Slayer tasks are short in comparison to camping. You could kill 1000 Abyssal demons on tasks without realizing you've killed that many, and be surprised you got 2 whips. While camping, every kill seems to take longer due to the fact you're awaiting a whip. Player moderator crownarioTalkHSAdv. Log#Dungeoneering-icon120/120 16:42, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

- (Disclaimer: I am generalising, I am not saying that all low levels are impatient or uninformed, you have to understand that I am talking generally about all players in RS - In fact I'm not even saying that ANY low levels are impatient or uninformed, I'm saying they are LESS patient and LESS informed than higher level players, which in GENERAL is true.) People with higher total levels: More patient as evidenced by willingness to train skills to higher levels in general, more likely to understand how drop rates work due to being more generally experience in RS. | People with lower total levels: Less patient evidenced by apparent unwillingness/lack of desire to train boring/slow skills | As a result: People with high total levels: Due to patience, they are less likely to whine about dry streaks, an importantly, still just as likely to celebrate hot streaks. Due to greater knowledge of drop rates, they are less likely to get really frustrated by dry streaks, because they understand that that's just how it works. Mor elikely to know that they should have the attitude "Ah, well that's just how drop rates work" and also more likely actually have that attitude. | People with low total levels: More likely to whine about a dry streak due to impatience. More likely to get frustrated by game-mechanics not working how they thought they did/should. Less likely to understand that "That's just how droprates work" and also less likely to have that attitude. 20:12, November 20, 2010 (UTC)

Drop table Edit

The current drop table on the page does not show a whip, someone fix?

Drop of abyssal charms need to be added to drop table. I believe they are only dropped in abyss, but not sure. I am also unsure of thier drop rate. They are definately a drop when killing in abyss though.

I have yet to have an Abyssal Demon drop any Abyssal charms in the Abyss area. Are you sure they drop them? The other monsters in the area do, yes, but that doesn't necessarily mean the Demons drop them, too. Summoning-icon Zack Buster Small obelisk (POH) 03:05, February 25, 2011 (UTC)

Location? Edit

I hear killing these in the Slayer Tower provides the highest drop rate and the Abyss being the lowest. Can anyone shed some light on this subject?

Perhaps this is also why there's always 10+ people each world killing at the Slayer Tower instead of the Abyss. I mean, that place is usually empty on mosts worlds. Why must people choose to crowd into the tower?

Not sure regarding drop rate although seems unlikely. However 1 thing about abyss that makes players go else where is although a single combat area when demons teleport other abysall creatures close by can attack and interupt combat with demon, this can be extremely annoying and occurs in most spawn locations oin abyss

just got a nature talisman as a drop, but they're not in the list of drops?
