Strong smelting urn detail

A strong smelting urn can be created at 49 Crafting (granting 83.5 experience) and is used with the Smithing skill to help with gaining experience. It can be constructed by using 2 soft clay on a pottery wheel to create a strong smelting urn (unf). The option to craft an urn is found in the top left hand corner. Click the brown text box and a drop down menu should appear. After firing it in a pottery oven, a fire rune must be used on the strong smelting urn (nr) to enable it to collect 'scraps of metal'.

To fill the urn, players must smelt bars or form cannonballs in the furnace. Smithing items from the bar does not fill the urn. The urn is filled when the player has earned 1,250 Smithing xp with the urn in inventory. Once the strong smelting urn is full, it becomes a strong smelting urn (full) and can be teleported to Ernie for 250 Smithing experience.

A strong smelting urn costs 997 coins to make if the soft clay and fire runes are bought from the Grand Exchange.

Using Superheat Item does fill an urn. Smelting silver bars, and corrupted ore as well as using the blast furnace does not fill the urn. If smelting two bars at once in the Edgeville furnace, the urn only fills with XP from the first bar that is made. The second does not count.

You may only have 10 smelting urns of any type which are partially or fully filled without teleporting them. If you have 10 total in your bank, inventory, and Beast of Burden combined, then you will not automatically fill up the 11th. If you have a Smelting Urn of any type which is partially filled in your inventory, it will always fill before starting a new smelting urn of any type.
