The stake is an item used in the Vampire Slayer quest. This item is obtained by talking to Dr. Harlow at the Blue Moon Inn at Varrock. The player must use the stake, along with a Hammer to kill Count Draynor. In Runescape Classic, it was possible to wield this item as a weapon, and both its stats and appearance resembled that of a bronze longsword.
Now, once you complete the Vampire Slayer quest, it is impossible to retain the stake, and though multiple stakes can be obtained and banked during the course of the quest, all stakes in your inventory and bank vanish automatically upon completion of the quest, rendering it impossible to acquire any more to fight against other vampires.
