The Staff is the weakest magic weapon in RuneScape. Players can purchase this staff from Zaff's Superior Staffs! in Varrock for 15 coins. While being a weak melee weapon, a mage wielding a staff can use the autocast option, making the player's default attack one of the 16 elemental spells. As of 2 September, 2009, the autocasting feature doesn't require a staff anymore. Visually the staff is identical to the battlestaff.

This staff is frequently dropped by low level wizards and barbarian women.
