Soda ash detail

Soda ash is obtained from cooking seaweed, swamp weed, or kelp on a range or fire. It is an ingredient for making glass in crafting, along with a bucket of sand. It must then be smelted in a furnace to make molten glass. It can also be obtained as an uncommon drop from Killerwatts and Dust devils.

Soda ash is usually obtained by gathering seaweed, kelp or swamp weed in areas such as Dorgesh-Kaan, the beach near Rellekka and Keldagrim, Entrana, Karamja, or the Piscatoris Fishing Colony (upon completion of the Swan Song quest). Soda ash can also be obtained by pickpocketing Ithell workers in Prifddinas.

Making soda ash gives you 1 Cooking experience.

A money making method involving soda ash is to buy 80 seaweed (daily) from Arhein in Catherby, cook it into soda ash on a range, and then sell it at the Grand Exchange for market price or higher. Depending on Grand Exchange prices, it may be more profitable to sell the seaweed without cooking it.

Soda ash can be converted into Molten glass without needing a bucket of sand by using a Desert amulet 2 or higher. This can be done 50 times a day, or 100 with a Desert amulet 3 and 150 with a Desert amulet 4.

Cooking seaweed into soda ash yields a profit/loss of 13 coins each.
