Zombie head
Sock mask was removed from RuneScape after an update, but still exists in-game for those who had obtained it.

Sock mask chathead

The sock mask was a reward for the RuneFest/Deathcon cross-convention event, which was an extension of the 2011 Hallowe'en event during RuneFest. It is effectively two masks - a sock mask that has a happy expression and a buskin mask with a sad expression. Players can switch between the two by right clicking and selecting flip. This can be done even when the mask is equipped. The masks have no bonuses and can be stored in a Toy box in a Player-owned house.

The mask was obtained by completing the crossover event's puzzle. This was started by speaking to Fame in the Theatre on the top floor of the keep in the Grim Reaper's Citadel. Fame would give a Runefest puzzle book, which contained 26 questions to answer - all of which would be related to the surrounding citadel. The answers to each of the questions would be a number between 1-26 for regular players, and A-Z for Runefest attendees. These then needed to be matched question number by all players to find the corresponding numbers for each of the letters of the word 'PASSWORD', and so a correspondence between Runefest attendees and other players was required. Players could then tell Fame these numbers to receive the mask.

Trivia[]

  • After its release many players used the Sock mask/Buskin mask to express their dissatisfaction regarding the golden scythe only being given to a small number of attendees at RuneFest.
