Slayer substitutes
From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape
Variations of monsters count towards the slayer assignment. For example, if a player has been assigned to kill Blue dragons, they may instead slay Baby blue dragons and receive Slayer experience. Since the amount of slayer experience received is based on the monster's hitpoints, there may be an advantage to selecting the higher level creature as a target. On the other hand, since Slayer reward points depend only on finishing slayer assignments, there may also be an advantage to selecting the lower level creature to complete the task quicker.
This table shows the substitutes for the listed slayer tasks. Columns are:
- Slayer task - The assigned slayer task.
- Substitutes - The list of known substitutes for the task.
- Not allowed - The list of creatures that resemble the assigned creature in some way but do not count toward the task. For example, if a player is assigned ghosts, aberrant spectres do not count toward the task, even though a spectre appears to be ghostly and its examine text calls it a 'very smelly ghost'.
- Unknown - The list of creatures that, due to appearance or name, might count towards the task, but it is unconfirmed whether they do or not. For example, the Evil chicken is obviously a bird but it is as yet unknown if killing it counts towards a 'bird' slayer task.
Note that creatures that cannot be attacked by melee, ranged, or magic cannot be substitute slayer creatures. For example, Hunter-skill birds like Crimson Swifts cannot be attacked.
