A Skillcape emote can be performed when the player is wearing the proper Cape of Accomplishment. The emote has something in common with the skill whose cape you're wearing. For example, the Defence skill cape emote shows a player defending him/herself from different threats.
The skill cape emote can be performed by going into the emotes interface, scrolling down to the bottom and clicking this button:
Skill capes will raise the level of the skill temporarily to 100, and will give the bonus to the skill, such as with the strength skill cape, you can hit higher. While doing the Prayer or Hitpoint cape emote the level can't be raised to 100, but if you are down in that skill it can be raised up to 99, 1 level every minute. You can raise it the level by taking off and putting on the cape, or going into the equipment interface and clicking "operate". The emote's picture is a player with a Range Cape and Ranging Equipment, even though you might not get a Range Cape.
Each Cape of Accomplishment has a different emote. It does not matter if the cape is trimmed or not; the emote is always the same. This emote can be performed on free-to-play worlds, even if it is a members skill.
As of the 28 October 2008, performing the skill cape emote also plays a short sound effect which fits with the actions of the emote. In the case of the Prayer skill cape emote, one can hear the wings flapping, for example. Unlike the emotes, however, the sounds can only be heard by the person performing the emote.
These are the animations produced by operating or using the Skillcape emote while wearing a Cape of Accomplishment.
