Skeletons (Ape Atoll) are found in the Ape Atoll Dungeon and are commonly killed by players for high rates of experience. Players are advised to use Protect from Melee against these monsters, as they are in a multicombat area and several can attack at a time.
They are a form of Undead, meaning players can and should use the Salve amulet (or Salve amulet (e)), while training Melee on them. Because of this, one can potentially earn vast amounts of melee experience because the Salve amulet (e) and the Dragon 2h sword special attack can be fully utilised while fighting these. Although the Dragon 2h sword is a very handy weapon here although those who have 80 Slayer should use an abyssal vine whip due to its special attack which drains 60% of your special bar and hits all targets around you for mutiple hundreds of health giving enormous amounts of experience.
It is worth noting that Skeletons (Ape Atoll) have the tendency of spawning from the bones they drop. To prevent an overflow of extra skeletons, they will disappear into a pile of burning bones after a short while. When they respawn, they do so with an animation of them coming out of the ground, this is unique among other monsters. The bones cannot be taken away from Ape Atoll, and when teleporting out a message appears saying 'The skeleton bones you are carrying crumble to dust'. Ashes are then left in your inventory.

For maximum experience it is recommended to use the following:
- Helm: Helm of neitiznot
- Amulet: Salve amulet (e)
- Chest: Proselyte hauberk
- Legs: Proselyte tasset or Proselyte cuisse
- Boots Dragon boots/Steadfast boots
- Cape: TokHaar-Kal, Soul wars cape, Fire cape, Ardougne cloak 3
- Ring: Berserker ring (i) > Berserker ring/Warrior ring
- Gloves: Barrows gloves/Goliath gloves
- Weapon: Saradomin sword, Abyssal vine whip, Chaotic rapier
- Shield: Dragon defender

- 4x Prayer renewal flask (6)
- 4x Overload (6)
- 8x Prayer Flask (6)
- 1x Antipoison++ (4)
- 1x Greegree of any type
- 7x Recover special (6)
- 1x Teleport to House tablet (Recommended)
- 2x Beast Of Burden Pouch
BOB Inventory (recommended):
- Bull ant 9x Recover Special Flask (6)
- Spirit terrorbird: 12x Recover Special Flask (6)
- War tortoise: 18x Recover special (6)
- Pack yak: 30x Recover special (6)
Now I know what you're thinking; what am I going to need all these recover special flasks for? Well, you're going to be spamming the Abyssal vine whip special for maximum xp/h. It sounds like a waste, but when you compare the xp/h of these to the xp/h of Armoured zombies, it's nearly double. With Turmoil, Overloads, and the Abyssal vine whip special, you can gain over 250k experience per hour. That's 2.5 times more than Armoured zombies!
Ranged
Many people choose this method as you can obtain roughly 300k/hr Ranged exp, yet costs a lot.
- Helm: Pernix cowl > Armadyl helmet > Robin hood hat > Helm of Neitiznot
- Amulet: Amulet of ranging > Amulet of fury > Amulet of glory
- Chest: Pernix top > Armadyl chestplate > Royal d'hide top > Karil's top > Black d'hide body
- Legs: Pernix legs > Armadyl chainskirt > Royal d'hide chaps > Karil's skirt > Black d'hide chaps
- Boots: Glaiven boots > Ranger's boots > Snakeskin boots
- Cape: Soul wars cape > Ava's alerter > Ava's accumulator > Ava's attractor (note: Ava's do not save chinchompa's.)
- Ring: Archer's ring (i) > Archer's ring
- Gloves: Barrows gloves/Swift gloves
- Weapon: Red chinchompa
- Shield: Eagle-eye kiteshield > Any God book

- 4x Extreme ranging flask > 4x Super ranging flask
- 4x Prayer renewal flask
- 16x Super prayer flask > 16x Prayer flask

Many players choose this method as it is very fast, and it always has at least 9+ skeleton monkeys so you can gain maximum experience points.
