|A shard of crystal surrounded by a dark rock.|
When cleared: A shard of crystal that has been cleared of rock.
Seren stones are crystalline rocks in the Trahaearn Clan district of Prifddinas that require level 89 Mining (boostable) to mine from. 296.7 experience is gained per successful mining attempt, or 356 experience if the Voice of Seren is affecting the Trahaearn Clan district.
Each stone can be mined 70 times before it goes through a trapdoor. Corrupted ore is mined randomly about half of the time with successful hits and stacks in the inventory. This allows for continued training without needing to bank or drop items in a way similar to chopping ivy for Woodcutting. Seren stones deplete more quickly if there are other players mining the same stone, so a player will need to re-click the stone more often if it is being shared with other players.
Mining Seren stones gives up to 125,000 experience an hour using a crystal pickaxe with level 99 Mining and no other bonuses. Using a magic golem outfit, golden mining armour, and a lava titan familiar, a player with level 99 Mining can gain around 185,000 experience an hour. At level 92, using a magic golem outfit, golden mining armour, and lava titan familiar will earn close to 170,000 experience per hour. Mining urns are filled when mining Seren stones.
Players can also use the Superheat Form prayer after they have completed The Light Within to automatically smelt the corrupted ore for Smithing experience. Smelting corrupted ore gives 150 experience in Smithing, and will trigger roughly half the times that players successfully get Mining experience. This means the Smithing experience rates will be roughly 1/4 that of Mining, with no boosts being at abound 32,000 experience per hour and with all equipment and boosts yielding 47,000 experience. There is virtually no reason not to use this prayer if it is available, since the prayer drain is offset almost entirely with a dose of prayer renewal, and there is an altar nearby. Running to the altar will only slightly decrease mining rates.
Mining 100 corrupted ore gives the title [Name] of the Trahaearn. Smelting 100 corrupted ore will give a smithing XP lamp from Lady Trahaearn. However, superheating the ore will not give the same rewards. It must be done in a furnace.
