Scorpion

From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape

Scorpions are found at the Scorpion pit mine north of Al-Kharid, as well as Musa Point, the Dwarven mines and the Wilderness. They are dangerous to low level players training mining. Caution is advised while mining to make sure newer players don't get killed. The deadliest one free players will face is either the King Scorpion (level 32), or the scorpions in the Stronghold of Security (level 37 and 59). They are also found caged in Ardougne Zoo and are good training for low level mages and rangers. Level 37 scorpions also look slightly different in colour than the other scorpions.

Scorpions of level 14 are aggressive to players up to level 29. It should also be noted that level 37 and 59 scorpions in the Stronghold of Security are aggressive to ALL levels.

Scorpions are not recommended for Free-to-play Melee training as they have no drops however some other kinds of scorpions do.

[edit] Trivia

In Postbag from the Hedge 40,Nurmof says that the reason scorpions are at nearly every mining spot in Runescape is because that they enjoy eating Scorpionite, much like how Dragons enjoy eating runite.

If you walk near a scorpion, you can hear it walking.

As of recently on the Jagex website, this image has been spotted and gives a reason to believe that a graphical update for Scorpions may be arriving soon.
