Sapphire bolts are mithril bolts tipped with sapphire bolt tips. Sapphire bolts can be created through the Fletching skill. A player must first have a Fletching level of 56 and use a chisel with a cut Sapphire to make 12 Sapphire bolt tips. Attaching Sapphire bolt tips also requires a Fletching level of 48. Once the Sapphire bolt tips have been attached, the mithril bolts become Sapphire bolts.

Sapphire bolts can be enchanted through the spell Enchant Crossbow Bolt (Sapphire) by a player with level 7 Magic. The spell enchants 10 Sapphire bolts at a time, and once they are enchanted they become Enchanted sapphire bolts and gain a special ability.
