|Examine||A hardened wooden spear equipped with an amentum.|
Sagaie are throwing spears that require 72 Ranged to wield. Players can make them using items gained from the Jadinko Lair. Sagaies are 1-handed and, thus, can be equipped with a shield to give better defensive bonuses, although they do not currently have an off-hand counterpart. Moreover, Ava's devices do not work with Sagaie and most of the spears thrown will be lost. They are currently the third strongest thrown weapon in the game, behind only the highly expensive Morrigan's javelin and Morrigan's throwing axe and the untradeable Death Lotus darts. It is also the second most powerful javelin-type weapon, also behind Morrigan's javelin.
They are made with a Fletching level of 83 or higher by heating straight roots on a firepit to make hardened straight roots, using a knife to fletch these into sagaie shafts and then attaching mutated vines to the shafts for 40 Fletching experience per shaft (5 are made per 2 game ticks, or 100xp/tick, and you can queue up 50 using Make-10).
This makes the actual fletching process one of the fastest ways to train fletching in RuneScape only behind dragon darts, though this speed may be deceptive given the amount of time needed to prepare the untradeable sagaie shafts.
A player wielding Sagaies

- The name Sagaie comes from the word assegai, a slender and powerful spear used in Africa. Often called a Zaġāya.
- Sagaies are similar in look and in actual use to the Aztec Atlatl, a type of throwing spear that is projected by using a small stick at the spear's base as a kind of lever.
- Before the Evolution of Combat, Sagaie dealt more damage when the player was farther from their target, at the cost of accuracy. Sagaie now function as a standard thrown weapon.
- The straight roots and hardened straight roots do not stack, but sagaie shafts and sagaies themselves do stack.
