The Rune warhammer is the third strongest type of warhammer in the game, better than the adamant warhammer but weaker than Torag's hammers and Statius's warhammer. Like all Rune weapons, it requires 40 attack to wield and can only be used in combat. At one point, it was the best warhammer available. It is also a semi-rare object in free worlds, because it can only be originally obtained from a player with level 94 Smithing. Players can make a rune warhammer with the Smithing skill at level 94 using 3 rune bars, giving the player 225 Smithing experience. When High Level Alchemy is cast on this, players will get 8,320 coins per bar (8,320 coins × 3 bars = 24,960 coins).
Though it is not common for players to use it as a weapon, it is used in certain Level 3 clue scrolls, and its rarity has made it a highly sought item for clue scrollers.

[edit] History
The rune warhammer was released, along with other standard warhammers, some time after RuneScape 2 came out. It cost 40k during release, but the price dropped months later as battle axes had better strength bonus. Because pure player killers were popular during those times, rune warhammers were neglected because they were of no use if the target had a low Defence level. But at the time, it was one of the most accurate crushing weapons, behind only two or three dragon weapons and later on some barrows weapons.
