The Rune thrownaxe, like all throwing axes, is a member's only Ranged throwing weapon and is the most powerful type of throwing axe. To wield a rune thrownaxe the player must have at least 40 Ranged. They can be obtained either by buying from the Tribal Weapons store at the Ranging Guild, looting from a ninja impling, or trading with another player. The rune thrownaxe can be wielded with a shield,or god book for protection.

The rune throwing axe has a special attack called Chain Hit. This attack sends the rune thrownaxe flying, hitting multiple targets(max 3) and using 10% of the special bar for each target it hits. It can also be used to knock down the doors to get to the ladder in the east part of Waterbirth Island dungeon. As with all throwing axes, the rune throwing axe looks somewhat like the battleaxe of the same metal. But, during the special attack, for a few moments, the rune throwing axe looks like a steel throwing axe.

The rune throwing axe special is a useful method to gain the Yt-HurKots' attention in the TzHaar Fight Cave. Also, if used when your back is to a wall the special attack is an instant miss.

Not to be confused with Nial's throwing axe, an item obtained during the Glorious Memories quest.
