The Rune platebody is a platebody made of the metal, runite (metal). Statisically, it is the best melee chest armour available for non-member warriors. It used to be considered the best platebody made with conventional metals, but was surpassed with the release of While Guthix Sleeps and the Dragon platebody. It can be bought from Oziach after completing the Dragon Slayer quest, the Grand Exchange in Varrock, or from player smiths. Players can make this item with the Smithing skill at level 99 using five Runite bars. It gives 375 experience. Players cannot wear this item until they have completed the Dragon Slayer quest and have 40 Defence. Non-member players can now obtain rune platebodies from certain high-levelled Revenants, or by purchasing one from another player. Rune platebodies have the same stats as a sacred clay platebody. The Hero in East Ardougne has a slightly lighter coloured version, though this cannot be obtained by players.
[edit] Treasure trails versions
The Rune platebody (g) and (t) can both be obtained as rewards from Level 3 Treasure trails. They cannot be made through the Smithing skill.
Players can't trim armour. Players throughout Runescape have claimed to be able to trim armour to get the unsuspecting player to hand over their armour for free. This caused many problems and low level players to be devastated. Due to the trading limit, this has become extremely rare.
There are also three versions representing the three major gods of RuneScape, as well as a gold gilded version. These are the Saradomin platebody, the Guthix platebody, the Zamorak platebody, and the gilded platebody.
All the Treasure Trails versions have exactly the same stats as the normal version, but are more rare due to the fact they are only obtained from a Treasure Trail, that free players cannot obtain them, and have to buy them from either a member or the Grand Exchange.

[edit] Trivia
- Before the HD Update, Rune platebody's look a lot more "bulkier" in terms of shoulder-pads.
- Prior to the Personalised Shops update, members could turn a profit by buying the platebody at the Blast Furnace Armour Store for 45k then selling them at the Grand Exchange for around 55k. Currently, the Armour Store carries no stock of its own.
