Rune mace detail

The rune mace is stronger than the adamant mace, and weaker than the dragon mace. Like all rune weapons, it requires 50 Attack to wield. Players can make a rune mace with the Smithing skill at level 87 using one rune bar, giving the player 75 Smithing experience. This mace can alternatively be bought from the shop in the Champions' Guild, and the Grand Exchange in Varrock. The mace has a decent +4 bonus for prayer, which makes it an ideal weapon for those who use prayers for longer periods of time while in combat.

Before the Evolution of Combat, the rune mace was not commonly used as it had a slower attack speed and damage rating than the rune scimitar. After the rework was released, the rune mace had its speed and damage made equal to the scimitar's. This, combined with the lower price and prayer bonus (which the scimitar lacks), may make the rune mace superior to the scimitar, particularly in PvP scenarios, where prayer is frequently used and specific attack types do not matter. It is also a superior choice when fighting monsters that either have a crush weakness or do not have a melee weakness.
