Rune dagger detail

The Rune dagger is a dagger stronger than an adamant dagger, but weaker than a dragon dagger. Like all rune weapons, it requires 50 attack to wield. Its primary use is combat, although it has other purposes, such as dicing/slicing pineapples, or cutting through webs. It once was the strongest dagger available to free players, but after the PvP Worlds update, the corrupted dragon dagger now succeeds the rune dagger. Like all daggers, this weapon is fast, but weak. Players can make a rune dagger with the Smithing skill at level 85 using 1 rune bar giving the player 75 Smithing experience.

Before the Evolution of Combat update, this item was rarely used due to it having no advantage over the then more powerful scimitar and short sword. It is now statistically identical to the scimitar (execpt stabbing instead of slashing), and hence capable of the same damage per second as all other rune weapons, but it has the lowest price of any rune weapon. It therefore might make a good choice for those seeking a rune weapon on a budget.

Acquiring Edit

In addition to Smithing, Rune daggers can also be obtained as rewards from Level 3 Treasure trails, and as a drop from Blue Dragons, Green Dragons, Cave Horrors, Turoths, Basilisks, Dust Devils, Aviansies, Elf warriors, Zamorak Warriors, Mature grotworm or looted from Eclectic implings (many players choose to cast High Alchemy after obtaining one). It is sold by Urbi in Sophanem after the Contact! quest and can also be bought from the Grand Exchange in Varrock or by trading with other players.
