Rune chainbody detail

A Rune chainbody is the second strongest chainbody in free play below corrupt dragon chainbody, and the third strongest chainbody in members, succeeded by vesta's chainbody and dragon chainbody. To wear this chainbody, a player needs at least level 50 Defence. This piece of body armour is less resistant than the rune platebody, however wearing it does not require completion of Dragon Slayer. For this reason it is most commonly worn by free players who have not finished said quest.

Since the Evolution of Combat update, there is almost no reason to use the chainbody over its platebody equivalent; the incentive to be worn by rangers and mages has been lost, as neither the chainbody nor platebody provide different offensive bonuses to separate them. The chainbody has a relatively stable price, which is caused by stable supply and demand (for high alchemy), and is not as expensive to replace when killed, making it a good choice for pvp activities.

A player with 96 Smithing can make the chainbody by using three rune bars on an anvil, granting 225 Smithing experience. It can also be bought at the Champions' Guild, or for members, at Seddu's Adventurers' Store in Nardah.
