Orphaned images

Can someone tell me please whether orphaned images will be deleted automatically? I have just orphaned Image:Spinach_Roll.jpg|Spinach_Roll.jpg, and I want to know whether I should tag it with a template (such as {{Vfd}}) to say it should be deleted, or does the system periodically single out orphaned files and bring them to the attention of administrators? Nope, that doesn't happen. Usually an admin (me I think mostly, because I look for every chance to delete) will check out unused images and delete them. I try to check the page everyday, but I haven't been on recently. If you see an image that is unused, and has been for some time, and can't seem to find a use for it, then I suggest using {{D|Unused (or orphaned) image}}. A vote isn't necessary to be held for those usually though (but that's just my opinion). Christine^Talk_Flickr 23:46, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Deletion versus speedy deletion

I think there should be separate policies on "deletion" and "speedy" deletion, or at least what the criteria should be for distinguishing between the two. I don't think a single speedy deletion policy adequately covers this. Leevclarke 22:24, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Vandalism and Speedy Deletion

I just came across an artice that was created for the sole purpose of posting vandalism. Should this article just be deleted since it can't be reverted and has no useful purpose? Sir Lenehan File:Smite old.png|25px 23:01, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

That's right. Just add {{D|Reason here}} to the top of any page like that you find and an admin will delete it shortly. --Andorin (Talk) (Contribs) 19:36, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Merge

So it looks like User:Chicken7 is requesting a merge of these two documents. I'm going to open up a discussion here to um discuss it, lol.

Oppose - I do get that these are similar ideas so I'd be open to hearing reasoning for the merge. However, I think that speedy delete and vfd are significantly different processes and having two seperate policies about them, highlights that fact. Tollerach hates SoF 20:39, January 11, 2010 (UTC)
