Written by: Mr. Garrison

This is the continuation of Part One of The Witching Hour.

The ectophial was emptied over the corpse of Mr. Hammond, and his killer disappeared as quickly as he had arrived, albeit with a heavier inventory this time. Phasmatys was his destination, and he had things to do; things that would change the outcome of the world.

Part Two[]

The ground of Port Phasmatys was a sickly shade of green, but if you have just committed murder, the ground makes no difference to you, for every inch of earth you tread on still leaves a footprint of sin behind.

However, getting that sword was necessary, whatever any guards in Varrock had to say. Still, he would not be going back there any time soon, and now he had the power to strike a deal with his opponents.

The moon was high in the sky, and the Witching Hour was well under-way as the killer clambered into the woods beneath the gnarled branches of hollow trees.

"Away! Off! At once!" he hissed as a leech launched itself at his stomach.

He snapped off a branch from the tree and stabbed the leech with it, causing the foul creature to decay into the ground of the forest, leaving only a foul smelling liquid behind.

The leeches are certainly swarming in this part of the woods, I dread to think what horrors await further within, he pondered. The walk would take nearly ten minutes to reach the place he sought as it was on the outskirts of the miles upon miles of swamp and forest.

“My shoe,” he grumbled as he looked down at his foot to see it was caught in mud, and was barely able to move.

A mist began to rise from behind the trees as a shadowy figure emerged. His heart felt like it was going to shatter into a million pieces in fear. A Vampyre emerged clutching what appeared to be a tattered scroll, and it waved its other hand causing the mud to retreat from the killer's foot.

"Tell me your name," insisted the Vampyre in a calm but firm manner.

"Adam," answered the killer.

The Vampyre squeezed the scroll tightly and shut its sunken black eyes, but suddenly they sprung back open.

"You might be the Adam I seek, on the orders of my Lord, come vermin, at once."

"Please, I beg of you, there are more important matters at hand here!"

"That sword is making you act this way... what is it? What makes it so special? And why seven?"

“It is none of your interest.”

"But it is, and you know it, I can sense that your blood is flowing ever so fast, you're lying. I have everything I need to know now."

"You said Drakan needs me!"

"That was to simply keep you still, keep your thoughts flowing in a logical fashion so I could pick them out one-by-one. Now, I think it's time you became leech-meat, vermin!"

As the Vampyre darted behind Adam, it opened its mouth revealing a vicious set of teeth. Amongst the trees however, something was moving; something that was bright and an intense shade of orange.

The light from it spilled over the landscape and turned the Vampyre to dust before Adam's eyes, and then it lessened its glow.

"The sword is mine now," Adam stated.

"But the battle is nowhere near won," replied the voice.

Part Three[]

Adam's eyes were filled with bright light and his surroundings began to blur. The next thing he knew he was in a deep sleep, and everything was dark.

Some Witching Hours ago, Adam had been living on the outskirts of Varrock with his love, Sophia. It was a dim night and the stars were bright, the classic peaceful setting that Adam had always wanted.

"This place is beautiful Adam, but how on Gielinor did you get the money to pay for it?" Sophia asked.

"Nevermind that, I have good contacts, people who I've met in my travels, but now lets settle down and stop worrying, this is everything we've ever wanted," Adam replied.

"And what happens when we have everything we want? No progress can be made, we must seek out new challenges."

"No, we don't have to."

"Adam, you've travelled all the way across Isafdar and the Kharidian Desert, but you've never stepped foot into those swamps to the east."

"And for good reason! They're not pleasant."

"Wouldn't you like to visit them though, just look?"

"Why look there when I can look at my beautiful lover? Now please me, for the night grows old."

"If you look at me with only lust in your eyes, then I'd rather you look at me dead, for I'm not an object of desire. I'm your wife!"

"Yes, yes, of course, I'm sorry."

"You keep doing this! Treating me like your plaything. Well I do not care for this, so I think I'll look at the swamps for the rest of the night, a two-headed demon has more passion than you."

Sophia exited the small hut and walked in the direction of the River Salve. She saw a shape moving in the water and dipped her finger in to see what it was.

"Sophia, step back from that foul edge!"

"Adam, you cannot control me."

"You are paranoid, you are ill! And now you will end up dead!"

A shape began to form on the opposite river bank. Adam could not recall the rest, apart from a foul screech and Sophia being drained of energy somehow. She looked dead, so Adam pulled her into the hut and prepared a resting place.

"That was when you found us."

Adam awoke from his dream, only minutes had passed, and he was in a cavern. The bright lights danced about the room, casting their glow all over.

"Why did you do that? I'm on your side!" Adam snapped.

"Quiet, the Vampyres will hear you."

"Why should you care, one look and you could turn them to dust!"

"Yes, why yes, of course. Now we need to focus, as in order to bring Sophia back we need you to charge the sword with the dark magic of this kingdom, for only this will open the door."

"This could take some time my ethereal friends."

"We are one, we are your friend. And another thing, you have until the end of the Witching Hour to complete this task we set you."

To be continued...
