I am nominating Morian Smith for featured user for several reasons but namely because of his unique and tremendous contributions of RuneScape lore and esoteric characters to this encyclopedia. He will find a character or an event that everyone else here missed and creates an article detailing everything that can be gathered about the subject from in-game books to letters from the Postbag. In fact, just in the month of May he was responsible for 29% of the new pages created. Almost a third of our article growth last month was due to this one user. And when he does create a page, he makes sure to categorize, link to and link from really helping those people who constantly need to clean up new articles. Moreover, the quality of the edits he does to pre-existing articles such as as the two proffered in his first UotM nomination: [1] [2] really demonstrate how much profundity he adds. Finally, he constantly works on reducing the number of wanted pages, hopes to update all of the stubs in here and is a very friendly person. I believe him to be one of the best, if not the best member in here when it comes to article content and he is long overdue for this recognition.--Diberville 01:02, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

- Support - Great editor. Most people don't look into lore enough that they can write articles on it.

- Support - I've noticed Morian Smith's edits as of late and they are of consistantly high quality and add a great deal to the project. I'm not just talking of the minor spelling fixes and the like (which is how I personally tend to edit), I'm talking well researched and thought out contributions, such as this (and it's only one of many, many examples) which add depth and substance to the wiki. I'd like to say keep up the great work! Dechaineux Talk 15:36, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

I'm nominating Ilyas for user of the month because he has been an very active member of this wikia for 18 months now, making him one of our eldest contributors, he has made countless contributions to this wiki, everybody knows Ilyas, he is a wiki administrator, he is involved with overseeing major community events such as the recent wikifest. He has given so much to this wiki with almost nothing in return, he reverts vandalism, blocks when appropriate he has made a huge amount of edits, he has nearly 5000! (Which I believe would put him in the top ten on this wiki.) Why he hasn't been recognised for this community honour before just beats me, he has improved almost every page in the wiki, from Sea to Tree Gnome Village. He is also a great voice in the community, over at the forums and almost at every talk page. He is a very well known long standing unique member of this community, whose contributions constantly improve and continue to improve this wiki, he is not a short edit person either, he has made alot of large edits to this wiki the quality and usefulness of which speaks for itself.
A great person always willing to lend a hand on the wiki or in the game, he hosts this wiki's official chat channel amongst other services to this site in game, showing a dedication to this wiki that very few can claim, and frankly I was and am amazed at the work he has done when doing research for this nomination, 5000 edits
in 18 months is no mean feat! (approximately 277 edits per calendar month!) He should have been made user of the month ages ago, he has been nominated before now, but missed out by one vote and deserves to get it this time around. He is long long overdue for this accolade, he just deserves it. Bob2006ty(RUNESTORM333)talk

ps Recently as you may have noticed I have taken to nominating such users I feel deserve this award so much but as of yet have not recieved it, like Amaurice and Robert Horning who I nominated and both won this award in the last two months, the only person left I know that is deserving of this award and hasn't yet been given it is Ilyas, so lets make sure he gets his just deserts by making him uotm for July.

- Strong Support - Though I wouldn't consider 18 months "just over a year" (as it's a year and a half), Ilyas is probably one of, if not the, most veteran wikians here.

- Support: I think it is amazing that one person can do all that Ilyas has. I haven't been around here a lot, but wherever something is going on, his name pops up. It's not like he's the greatest in-game player or anything like that. I don't/wouldn't support him just for being a good player. He's a good player who contributes a lot to the Wiki. Also, how can such a few people (namely just Ilyas) orchestrate such huge events as wikifests? I know that they haven't gone perfectly, but Ilyas has put great time and effort into coming up with great ideas, it's just a lot to ask of one person. (And he's even solved that problem! Autumn Wikifest thread) Oh and sorry to Bob2006ty, down in the comments "section", I made your comment... well a comment ;-). Jathsen (talk ° Contribs #) 04:06, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

- Comment: Not trying to cause any disputes, but is it so that anyone that is an admin is automatically supported or is there some good deeds they've done that I myself have never seen. For example, a user named "Noob 4 life" wanted to become an admin, and he got mad because he thinks RS:AEAE isn't true. But if a well known user was running, they'd do Support! and Mega Support!. Just my two (or three) cents.—Derilith (talk • contribs) forgot to sign this comment on 14:56, June 10, 2008 (UTC).
- Although this isn't the place to be debating it, RS:AEAE isn't any justification to be handing out admin rights to new, unknown editors around the wiki. The spirit of this guideline is that the opinions of all editors are of equal validity, not that any user with very small number of contributions is entitled to hold the ability to ban other users or delete content from the wiki. The claim that he would be supported if he was well known is precisely why this user hasn't been supported in his bid for adminship. He has made very few useful contributions to the wiki and the community does not yet know if he/she is responsible enough to hold these powers. A well known user such as Ilyas, however, deserves to be supported because he has shown countless times his dedication to this project. The strong support for him has nothing to do with the fact that he is an admin, but rather because he has contributed a great deal to the community. Dechaineux Talk 15:36, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- Comment - To Derilith: What makes you think that? That's like punching a black person and being called racist. Depending on the conditions, it might be considered racist, but if you just punch them (which I think the case here is) then it's not racist. I mean, normally anyone who's name you see on this page is a user who has been here for a while and has contributed much to the community. In Noob 4 Life's case, he was a fairly new user with only 20 something mainspace edits out of 80 something total edits who was, basically, demanding that he was being treated unfairly (which I don't think he was). If an admin is abusing their powers and blocking random people, then chooses to run for bureaucrat, they're obviously not going to make it, no matter how long they've been here or how many edits they've made.

- Comment: To delrith again, firstly I completely agree with all comments from Ilyas and Dechaineux, and would like to reiterate that it is purely on his own merit that I have put Ilyas up for the User of the Month award. It has nothing to do with him being a wiki admin (which he also gained through his own merit), once again I have nominated him for all the reasons given in the nomination, mainly his massive contributions to this project over a period of eighteen months and his constant editing which adds much needed colour and clarity to this project, which in turn continues to improve the essence of this wiki. Under no circumstances are admins "automatically" supported, each voter has to make up their own mind, through their own knowledge of the user and through what has been said about them, all of what has been said about Ilyas has been throughly researched and is all true, which just goes to show how much he has contributed. I firmly believe that all users are equal and remember to assume good faith, if you look up that particular policy (RS:AEAE) you will see that in game experience status popularity etc does not affect how a person's is viewed in a discussion, unfortunately for Noob 4 Life requests for adminship judges using contributions to articles, blocks and use of rollback, anti vandalism work and displaying adminship qualities in general and also discussions as a base for "worthiness", (similar to this award) it was his misfortune to not have contributed enough to merit the admin status when so many more wiki users did have the experience and knowledge required.
To conclude we can use Ilyas last nomination for uotm as a perfect example to answer your question, he was up against someone who despite having been around for roughly the same time had less edits and overall contributions than himself who was not an admin, but still won, showing that despite your example, admins aren't necessarily always guaranteed to suceed, also I would like to add that such messages of support like "mega support" aren't just used for admins but in lots of nominations, the use of words before the support or capitalisation etc are purely the decision of the voter, used to show the sheer extent to which the voter believes someone is deserving of an award.
