Main articles: MediaWiki:Common.css, MediaWiki:Wikia.css, and MediaWiki:Monobook.css

This page contains information about the look of the RuneScape Wiki. It is intended to describe the theme used by the Oasis skin, which is the default for both unregistered and registered users. Monobook, an option only for registered users, is left relatively unstyled for those who prefer to customise their own theme.

General discussion about the wiki's default theme may take place on the talk page. Any major changes to the wiki's theme or logo (with the exception of alterations for holiday events) must be approved by a Yew Grove thread.

Identity

Wiki-wordmark

The wiki's identity includes the logo, the name, and any word, phrase, image or other designation that identifies the wiki and its content. The RuneScape Wiki logo, shown to the right, is the symbol of the wiki. The wordmark is set in League Spartan, available for free from The League of Moveable Type.

This site should be referred to as "RuneScape Wiki", not "RuneScape Wikia", "Rune Wiki", or any variants thereof.

Per discussion, for Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, as well as any other appropriate holidays, the wiki's logo can be changed to a derivative that incorporates symbols of that particular holiday. For example, a Halloween logo may incorporate bats, while a Christmas logo may incorporate snow.

Theme

By default, the RuneScape Wiki is viewed with the Oasis theme. Registered users may switch to Monobook in Special:Preferences. Administrators have the ability to change the wiki's theme with Special:ThemeDesigner, and make further adjustments with MediaWiki:Wikia.css and MediaWiki:Monobook.css.

MediaWiki:Common.css is compiled from LESS located in MediaWiki:Common.less. Administrators should avoid editing Common.css directly unless absolutely necessary; instead, edit the appropriate subpage. To update Common.css from Common.less, click the "Update CSS" button which can be found next to the edit button for Oasis users, or in the toolbox for Monobook users.

Holiday events

Archives

Per discussion, for Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, as well as any other appropriate holidays, the wiki's theme will be changed to a derivative that incorporates colors and images of that particular holiday. However, themes must have a light-colored background, as images without smooth transparency will have a jagged edge around them.

There will be a submission time period of at least a week during the month preceding the holiday event, in which interested users may create appropriate themes. Afterwards, there will be a one-week period in which a poll will be used to select the theme that will appear on the wiki. The theme should only be set for the duration of the holiday event.
