To quote a cliché: I've never been very great at making speeches, having stumbled multiple times at the feat, but I feel that I may be able to put forward a passable one here: I have been a long-standing member and contributor to this community, I have followed the rules and policies, been jolly and friendly to speak with, following standards in which this wiki requires; I welcome users, have been a large reverter of vandalism, contributed to the yew grove (although not particularly being a big fan of it) and am a constant mainspace editor, I do not, however, contribute solely for sake of editing, Most of the time I edit for the enjoyment, I have made many friends here, and believe in the good-will of other users, I feel that if given administrative rights, I could expand my editing capabilities and make the wiki a better place.

I, Ruudvan10000, accept this nomination for adminship. I have read the policies concerning administrators. I realize that this nomination may fail. If I do get community consensus, I promise not to abuse my powers because I realize that this is a serious offence and if the community finds that I have done so, my powers will be revoked and in extreme cases I could be given a community ban. Signed, Ruud (talk)(Suggest me naems) 11:51, September 18, 2009 (UTC).

Questions for the nominee

1. What administrative work do you intend to take part in?

Mainly combating vandalism, I am generally on at a Vandalism-prone time of day, so I feel that would be my main use, but I would make use of the other administrative rights as well (Protecting pages, deleting pages ETC.)

2. What are your best contributions to the RuneScape Wiki, and why?

I would say my contributions to spellings, my work to improve pages so they follow quality standards and I'm not really I huge chunk of text guy.

3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?

There have never been any edit conflicts that have caused me big amounts of stress, just a twinge of annoyance (Who doesn't get that?), I can't say I've been in any arguments with users recently, but during my earlier days I did have a couple of squabbles with Bonziiznob, but that is all sorted now.

Additional questions (asked by the community if necessary)

Discussion

Support - I've seen Ruudvan around the wiki, mainly in the Yew Grove areas. I think he would make a good admin. Amethyst II Talk 11:58, September 18, 2009 (UTC)

Comment - Why do people think they need to be an admin to combat vandalism? From what I have read in YG threads and edit history he seems like a good guy but his reasons for the RFA are quite poor. Why not just make everyone an admin to prevent vandalism? I'd like to hear more about what he will do differently should he gain adminship compared to now. --Gold ore Mercifull UK serv (Talk) 12:09, September 18, 2009 (UTC)

Oh and the irony of typos and grammatical errors in a comment about his best contributions made me giggle "I would say my contributions to spellings, my work to improve pages so they follow quality standards and I'm not really I huge chunk of text guy" --Gold ore Mercifull UK serv (Talk) 12:12, September 18, 2009 (UTC)
Reply - Sorry about the typo, I also do not think that I have to be an admin to fight vandalism, I just think he abilities would be more useful for more direct (and Explicit) vandalism. Ruud (talk)(Suggest me naems) 12:21, September 18, 2009 (UTC)
Ruud is normally on at a time when there is not a single Admin on. When I log on, I sometimes have to sift through the last hundred or so edits since not a single admin had logged in in the last few hours. Normally when this happens, Ruud (and others) have already reported the main offenders to the CVU and reverted most of the vandalism. Support - Ruud does a lot of great work on the wiki with little recognition. He seems to be the main anti-vandal when I am on, being able to warn users as well as report them. He has done great work making hundreds of pages follow the style guide, and always seems to remain calm in situations. Unicorn horn dust Evil Yanks talk 12:27, September 18, 2009 (UTC)

Oppose - I did a fast scan through your edits. I've noticed than about 70-80% of your mainspace edits are mainly minor edits to change a few words to follow the style guide. Of course, this isn't a bad thing, however, that means that not very many of your edits are actually actual contributions to articles in terms of content (as you've said: I'm not really I huge chunk of text guy.)

Your anti-vandalism looks fine though, however, other than dealing with vandalism, I've seen very little of you exercising your judgement elsewhere. I'm referring to VfDs and the basic speedy deletion, reason being that from the pages that you nominate for deletion, I'll be able to determine if you understand what/what not to delete. On top of that, you are not very involved in community discussions. I'm basing this upon your number of Forum namespace edits - 21. So to reiterate, I'd like to see more nominating things for deletion (which allows me to determine if you would use that admin tool well), more article content contributions (which is more of a personal preference), and more involvement in discussions before I can give you a support. C.ChiamTalk 12:40, September 18, 2009 (UTC)

Oppose - Per Caleb--Joe Click Here for Awesomeness 16:10, September 18, 2009 (UTC)

Oppose After looking through your "RuneScape" space edits, I can see that you really haven't reported that many vandals, only 24. You have also not been very active in Yew Grove discussions, nor VfDs as C.Chaim brought up. Most of your edits have been RS:SG and creating redirects, which you do not need admin tools for. http://i631.photobucket.com/albums/uu33/Psycho_Robot/Sigs%20and%20Avatars/kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar 16:12, September 18, 2009 (UTC)

Oppose Not yet - I hardly ever see you on discussions (or even the Recent changes). As Caleb said, most of your contributions in the mainspace are just correcting typoes and grammar, and creating redirects. You do welcome a lot of new users, which is good, and you also revert vandalism quite often. However, I do not think that that is enough to make me support this RfA. Ancient talisman Oil4 Talk 17:44, September 18, 2009 (UTC)

Changed to 'not yet'. I think you should participate a bit more in discussions like the YG. Ancient talisman Oil4 Talk 08:50, September 23, 2009 (UTC)

Oppose - I've never seen you do any anti-vandal work which is very important in my book. I rarely see you on the Yew Grove or any other community discussion areas. Anyone can edit for awhile, but what makes you worthy of adminship? Andrew talk 04:01, September 19, 2009 (UTC)

Comment - I'm on at an awkward time, I never see any of your edits either. Ruud (talk)(Suggest me naems) 13:19, September 19, 2009 (UTC)
That, my friend, is what Special:Contributions is for. I see a little bit of anti vandal work here and there and absolutely no community discussion participation. I had to specifically search for your edits in the Forum namespace and I found that you've only ever participated in a few discussions. In fact, all of your Yew Grove edits take up less than one page of contributions. Anyone can revert a few vandals and edit for awhile. That doesn't mean they deserve for adminship. Andrew talk 15:58, September 19, 2009 (UTC)

Oppose Per Soldier Twig Talk https://i.imgur.com/772kZGs.png 23:27, September 19, 2009 (UTC)

Comment - It seems your oppose reason has been nullified. Ruud (talk)(Suggest me naems) 10:21, September 29, 2009 (UTC)
Just because soldier has reconsidered his position does not mean that Man Tag1 should do the same. He might still believe that Soldiers old points are necessary and important for you to consider. Unicorn horn dust Evil Yanks talk 03:56, October 1, 2009 (UTC)
True, sorry man tag. Ruud (talk)(Suggest me naems) 10:19, October 1, 2009 (UTC)

Oppose - You have plenty of edits (although most of them, as stated above, seem to be redirects and such) and fight vandalism, but you rarely participate in community discussions. If you start lending your opinions on Yew Grove topics more often, you may have my vote the next time you go for an RfA.  Tien  14:33, September 20, 2009 (UTC)

Not yet - your nice and all, I just do not feal that you have made it to that step yet. I may be able to support this in the future, but as for now, I am going to stick to oppose. User:Stelercus/Signature 21:03, September 20, 2009 (UTC)

Slight Support - Per all. User:Stelercus/Signature 20:33, September 26, 2009 (UTC)

Not yet - I'd like to see a little more Forum: and (mainspace) Talk: edits. You're a great editor though, keep it up! Weird gloop @Gaz#7521 21:08, September 20, 2009 (UTC)

Support - Degen's and Robert's points. You are responsible and mature... though I would still like to see some more discussion edits! Weird gloop @Gaz#7521 22:01, September 23, 2009 (UTC)

Full unqualified support OMG, what are you all looking at? He is trusted, is not irresponsible, is calm, discusses reasonably, and works for the betterment of the wiki. Some of these opposes are so far out of left field that I am in total shock, bewilderment, and extremely disappointed by the lack of vision and understanding. Adminship is not an award of recognition for being super editor or super antivandal. If you think it is, you are 100% wrong. Period. It should be given to trusted users. If you don't trust Ruud then I don't know why you would trust anyone. Ok, done ranting. Comments at my rant should be directed at my talk page if you feel the need. Well, so it goes. Sorry Ruud.--Degenret01 01:26, September 22, 2009 (UTC)

Complete Support - I'd have to agree with Degenret here as well. There are a whole bunch of areas that can use the gentle touch of an administrator, and anti-vandalism isn't strictly the only reason for adminship either. Complaints about a whole bunch of minor edits... come on! That is the very definition of somebody helping to build infrastructure to a wiki. Even creating redirects and other such stuff can be very useful for people actually using this wiki as opposed to simply being a tool for just ourselves. Frankly, I think we could also use somebody who is a little more quiet as an admin and doesn't pound their chest so much. Certainly an outside neutral observer to some of the arguments and flame fests that have happened in semi-recent times would be helpful.... something that IMHO is a hallmark of a good admin. Please, Ruud, don't follow all (or even much) of this advise that has been given above and simply continue to do the outstanding contributions that you have already done in the past. Ruud has clearly shown that he can be a trusted user and won't abuse the powers of adminship. --Robert Horning 16:44, September 23, 2009 (UTC)

Everyone is allowed to support/oppose based on their own opinion and criteria so why are you making it sound like we are bad people and our advice should be ignored just because you don't agree with us? Andrew talk 19:57, September 23, 2009 (UTC)
I agree wit Andrew. Its pretty disrespectful... http://i631.photobucket.com/albums/uu33/Psycho_Robot/Sigs%20and%20Avatars/kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar 21:31, September 23, 2009 (UTC)

Not yet You have proven to deserve administrator rights but I think you need to get a bit more with discussions and anti-vandalism world. -- Defence Waterkunai1 Talk # fluffy bunnies[[File:Armadyl Symbol.png|25px]] 22:20, September 23, 2009 (UTC)

Eh, "You have proven to deserve administrator rights", but "Not yet"? Don't those two kind of contradict each other? Butterman62 (talk) 23:43, September 24, 2009 (UTC)

Support - Ruudvan is a great editor, he's been a part of the Runescape Wikia for a very long time and he doesn't think of it as a job, but more of a hobby.  Abyssal whip  chronicsin Talk 09:10, September 27, 2009 (UTC)
