He does a ton of work with images and would benefit a lot from being able to delete images, move them, and other things like that. He also does a lot of antivandal work so he could deal with that more effectively with sysop tools. Additionally, he is not as unpalatable as initial taste tests indicated. http://i631.photobucket.com/albums/uu33/Psycho_Robot/Sigs%20and%20Avatars/kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar 05:01, July 3, 2010 (UTC)

I, Cook Me Plox, accept this nomination for adminship. I have read the policies concerning administrators. I realise that this nomination may fail. If I do get community consensus, I promise not to abuse my powers because I realise that this is a serious offence and if the community finds that I have done so, my powers will be revoked and in extreme cases I could be given a community ban. Signed, ʞooɔ 20:49, July 3, 2010 (UTC).

Questions for the nominee

1. What administrative work do you intend to take part in?
Well, there's the obvious anti-vandal work. But besides that, I would like to make a long term project of spiffing up (yes, I said spiffing) all of the images. This would include moving to better names, deleting duplicates, more categorizing (which of course doesn't require sysop tools). I think Psycho mostly nominated me because he was tired of all the {{M}} and {{D}}s I did ^_^. Being able to suppress redirects when moving, as well as removing the ratelimit (if the thread regarding that issue doesn't pass), would also be helpful.

2. What are your best contributions to the RuneScape Wiki, and why?
My work on adding release dates to pages was extensive, and I often spammed up the RecentChanges, for those who remember :). Categorizing a bunch of pages, as well as simple maintenance, are some of my strong suits. More recently, I have been pulled into the File namespace, (requesting) moving, renaming, deleting, as well as the categorizing I had mentioned above. I have a lot of edits with AutoWikiBrowser, and I know that some people may hold that against me, but it's helpful for fixing typos, categorizing, and pretty much any task that you can think of. I've taken on tasks that require a lot of work, some simply for the sake of organization.

3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I had a little scuffle with Liquidhelium over the format of dates, but I think that was resolved well. There was a (fairly public) argument between Andrew and myself. That one was a little larger, but I think we came to an agreement to disagree and left it be. I set up a page for users to air their "grievances" about me, but it has evolved into a place for people to lampoon my name.

If anyone has additional questions, please do ask. I feel like I'm forgetting something. ʞooɔ 20:49, July 3, 2010 (UTC)

Additional questions (asked by the community if necessary)

  • It seems your work with {{M}} and {{D}} is what pushed Psycho Robot to nom nom nom you. Although that is obviously not your only work, is there any harm from the requested deletion/moves being outstanding a few hours more? Bad filenames make little constant harm, and if all links to them are removed, speedy deletion candidates practically disappear while they wait for their impending doom. Why is it so necessary that the candidates are all instantly dealt with? Chicken7 >talk 09:32, July 9, 2010 (UTC)
Hmm, you certainly raise a good point. What harm can an extra few hours do when a file has been as such for a long time? It's true that there's no real harm in letting them sit there. However, it is work that should be done, no matter what. It doesn't have to be immediately after {{M}} of {{D}} was added, but it should be taken care of in a reasonable amount of time, and not left to fester there for days or even weeks.
When I said that it would be helpful to be able to move and delete myself, this wasn't so much because I wanted everything to be dealt with instantly, but to avoid extra work by the sysops. I think Psycho just got tired of me tagging all of the images, and then him deleting. Cut out the middleman, y'know? ʞooɔ 10:02, July 9, 2010 (UTC)
The candidates are always eventually dealt with. I see none from 2006. Lol As I said, those 2 cases of requested moves and deletions do no harm in sitting there to fester. And anyway, I can think of no cases where the candidates have sat longer than 2+ days, and I usually check daily. Maybe it happened recently while I was on holiday. {{=P}
And it really isn't extra work for sysops; it is the work for sysops. It is what sysops are meant to do, and there is no avoiding it. By making you a sysop, there may be a cutting out of the middle man. But, is that removing extra work for the sysops? No, because if you were an administrator, you'd be deleting/moving the pages, and doing the sysop work (as I said, unavoidable). Hope I'm making sense Smile Chicken7 >talk 10:20, July 9, 2010 (UTC)
They do stay there for long periods of time. However, I'm going to reply mainly to the second part, as I don't think I raised a point about not being dealt with fast enough. It's less work overall adding a tag and then having someone else delete it than just deleting it. I admit that's not a great issue, but it would be very helpful to not have to tag all of the pages. ʞooɔ 10:33, July 9, 2010 (UTC)
Remember, there are heaps of other admins who delete pages/images 40 seconds after they're created/uploaded, and move bad filenames as they scour numerous categories. This is only an individual case where you mark a lot of pages/files to be deleted/moved. Tbh, you, Coolnesse and sometimes Evil1888 are the only ones I have seen recently who mark the pages/files. You may be creating less work overall by becoming an administrator, but not really any less work for yourself or the "administrative team", of which you will be part of. It takes a lot longer amount of time to delete than mark, as not only do you need to supply valid reasoning, but modification to other pages to get rid of wanted pages. Becoming an administrator would only create more bad mindsets amongst the community and psychological issues to do with admin numbers. But I don't want to mess up your RfA by going into that. That does not have anything to do with his ability to be an effective admin. I am not 100% sure why you felt the need to oppose on that basis. User:Stelercus/Signature 12:51, July 8, 2010 (UTC)
That is very poor reasoning. When I joined the wiki, User:Iiii I I I acted like a robot. And I actually thought he was for awhile... But he is an admin. And I don't think Cook acts like a robot, he is a very active user in the Yew Grove and voices his opinion.

xScoobsx Talk Contribs 13:15, July 8, 2010 (UTC)

I also feel that this is not an appropriate reason to oppose. One, that's breaching AGF. Two, that's just not a nice thing to do. User:Haloolah123/Sig 15:43, July 8, 2010 (UTC)
I'm not going to rebut this, but simply provide some numbers: I have approximately 6500 AWB edits which means that I have about 9000 "regular" edits, if you will. However, I don't really understand why that would affect my ability to be a competent administrator. ʞooɔ 18:11, July 8, 2010 (UTC)
You really should use common sense here, Lil cloud..obviously those edits were semi-automated because the auto wiki browser makes it a hell of a lot easier to perform tasks when there are a bunch of pages that need the same edit. Why the hell would you oppose because of that? Andrew talk 22:11, July 8, 2010 (UTC)
Also, I feel that the AutoWikiBot will help him for when he has to speedy move/delete things that have a lot of links. ~MuzTalk 00:03, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

(reset) As for what I mean about being a robot...edit report shows 102 non-minor mainspace edits out of 7059. Just throwing that out there. Farming cape (t) Lil cloud 9 Talk 00:58, July 9, 2010 (UTC)
I don't see how that is an issue, who cares if he'd rather make minor maintenance related edits than page content edits? I spend most of my time doing that. To be honest I hardly ever actually edit page content. http://i631.photobucket.com/albums/uu33/Psycho_Robot/Sigs%20and%20Avatars/kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar 00:59, July 9, 2010 (UTC)
Would just like to add that I do all of my edits on minor, as was suggested to me here, after I had made approximately 200 total edits. I was spamming up the RecentChanges with my release dates shenanigans, so I was asked to put mine on minor. Also, you're certainly entitled to your opinion. :) ʞooɔ 01:09, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

Oppose - I am concerned with his interactions with the community. He gets tied up with policies and wiki mainspace stuff that he seems to really forget that a wiki is a community. Similar to what I said on Hal's RFA, admins should value the community aspects of a wiki equally, and interact well within them. Cook differs from Hal though, because rather than being aggressive, Cook seems to be somewhat more nonparticipant. He often only talks in the CC or other places about mainspace stuff or site stuff. Not that any of this is bad, but he doesn't feel like a member of our community. (Yes, I'm expecting a flamefest of replies or people simply saying they can't see my point, that's fine, it's not like this RFA has a chance at not passing anyway.) I am not vot, I am Melon! 03:51, July 10, 2010 (UTC)

There are many sysops who really only participate in certain areas. As everyone is different you can't expect them to all do the same stuff. As such, he could really use these tools. He still has community interaction, so I really don't see your point. But, to add something. You shouldn't be flamed, no matter what you say. User:Haloolah123/Sig 03:57, July 10, 2010 (UTC)
I would say I'm part of the community. First off, I don't see what's wrong with me using the clan chat as a place to ask questions or discuss things relevant to the wiki, but that's not all I do. I do take part in Yew Grove discussions quite often, and I use the IRC a lot. But I think the larger point is that I disagree with you; the community centers around the wiki, not the other way around. ʞooɔ 08:39, July 10, 2010 (UTC)
