I have been observing the work of Chaos Monk for a while now, and I believe he can well be trusted with sysop tools at this time. I have never seen him get heated, yet he has participated in heated discussions and stayed calm and reasonable. He has been on this wiki for close to a year now, plenty long enough to determine the type of editor he is. While he may not have the highest edit count, his edits show he works to keep this wiki accurate and on target. He has demonstrated an understanding of our wiki and its policies through his actions and edits here. We would well be served by sysopping Chaos Monk.--Degenret01 01:12, September 26, 2009 (UTC)

I, Chaos_Monk, accept this nomination for adminship. I have read the policies concerning administrators. I realize that this nomination may fail. If I do get community consensus, I promise not to abuse my powers because I realize that this is a serious offence and if the community finds that I have done so, my powers will be revoked and in extreme cases I could be given a community ban. Questions for the nomineeEdit

1. What administrative work do you intend to take part in?

I plan on doing anything I can possibly do with the tools I'd be bestowed with, from rollbacks of huge articles, to more extensive anti-vandal work. The absolute least I'd strive for is to leave the wiki better than I found it, one action at a time.

2. What are your best contributions to the RuneScape Wiki, and why?

I'd say my best contributions would have to be in the Yew Grove, the place where all of the discussions on wiki-revolutionizing take place. My pride for mainspace would have to be here, and although it is new, I've pumped as much information as I can into it.

3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?

I have never had any severe editing conflicts, the largest being here, and it was the matter of information regarding the great gorilla. As for users, I have had a few run-ins with users that grind against my views, but I've managed the stress by posting calmly and attempting to drive my point home nicely. Any "swearing" that I would do in a thread I take care of in reality with stress management. In the future, I'll use an old saying, "if it's not broke, don't fix it". I would not resort to using any administrator tools for "KO'ing" users with different views unless called to by the community.

DiscussionEdit

Support - As nominator.--Degenret01 01:12, September 26, 2009 (UTC)

Pending - I have no doubt that you are a great guy or that you are trustworthy but I am hesitant to support because after looking through your contributions I found only 1 or 2 examples of anti vandalism. For me, anti vandalism work is important when I look at potential admins, so I will wait and see how this discussion unfolds before making a final decision. Andrew talk 01:40, September 26, 2009 (UTC)

Support - Out of all the YG threads I've seen, you have been one of the most frequent, detailed contributors, your mainspace contributions seem top-notch, the only thing is your anti-vandalism, that will need improving. Ruud (talk)(Suggest me naems) 10:18, September 26, 2009 (UTC)

Support - Your contributions in mainspace are very good, there are hardly any discussions you don't participate in... You only need to do a bit more anti-vandalism, but you already seem to be 'improving' (if that's the right word) on that. Big support. Support - Per nominator and other supporters. Quest Gaz Lloyd AwesomeEvents!99s 18:17, September 27, 2009 (UTC)

Weak oppose Neutral - While I do agree with Degen that you are one who stays calm and reasonable during the heated discussion, I am slightly hesitant to support because I generally like to see more mainspace edits, and because I looked through the first page of your contributions, and found this where I believe you assumed bad faith. C.ChiamTalk 08:37, September 28, 2009 (UTC)

Comment @ above - Umm, what did he do wrong? --Nup(T) 08:41, September 28, 2009 (UTC)

His edit summary was "Reverted vandalism", but I believe that the IP's edit was in good faith. C.ChiamTalk 08:44, September 28, 2009 (UTC)
That IP said that (paraphrasing here) green dragons drop draconic visages. And then made it a riculous drop rate. I wouldve blocked the IP for a day.--Degenret01 10:03, September 28, 2009 (UTC)
I think the IP was under the impression that all dragons dropped draconic visages. However, you can see that Chaos Monk's "vandalism revert" merely removed the drop rate, not the fact that green dragons drop draconic visages. C.ChiamTalk 10:05, September 28, 2009 (UTC)
My interpretation was he AGFed they drop them, but the rate was obviously wrong. Interesting how we can interpret a couple of edits in so many diff ways eh?--Degenret01 02:17, September 29, 2009 (UTC)

Support - Chaos Monk is very community focused and stood up for me when people were giving me a hard time after I had a rough day. It's people like Chaos Monk that I look up to. Andrew talk 03:53, September 29, 2009 (UTC)

Strong Oppose - While I like Chaos Monk, I spoke to him in game about this rfa. He told me that at this point, he does not care about being a sysop or not, he just does not want his rfa to fail. As I see it, he is looking at this as a game, and I would like him to have an idea of how he could make use of sysop powers before requesting them. Adminship is not a toy. Magic-iconStelercusBook of balance 09:35, October 1, 2009 (UTC)

Not caring if he is one or not is the perfect attitude, it means he isn't power hungry. I also didn't really care if I became one, but once an RFA is up with your name of course you don't want it to fail. It would make you think people don't think much of you.--Degenret01 20:06, October 1, 2009 (UTC)

Support - Reverts vandalism, involved in community discussions, improves and cleans up articles, and an overall great wikian. - TehKittyCatTalk Wikian-Book 20:22, October 6, 2009 (UTC)

Support - A bit low on edit count but those are good edits. Better a few hundred good ones than a thousand filled with nonsense. --Varthlokkur 03:06, October 7, 2009 (UTC)

Support - I trust Degen, and if Degen trust you, I do too. Your a great contributor and would make good use of the tools. 04:08, October 7, 2009 (UTC)

Closed - Chaos Monk will be given sysop powers. Dtm142 18:39, October 9, 2009 (UTC)
