Articles of the Month (AOTM) or Featured articles are articles that are so good that they should be featured on the Main Page. Doing so will cause many people to notice that article, as the Main Page is the first thing people see when they visit the site.

[edit] Criteria

Articles must meet certain criteria. If it does not, then it cannot be featured.

[edit] The article

The article is in the ARTICLE namespace (also known as the mainspace). It cannot be a project page (RuneScape:), a template (Template:), a category (Category:), a user page (User:), a file (Image:), a discussion page (Talk: or User/Template/MediaWiki/RuneScape talk:), or a software page (MediaWiki:). It also cannot be the main page itself. Any invalid nominations will be deleted.
The article is well written and informative.
The article follows the style guide.
The article's pictures look nice and are not scarce.
Overall, the article looks nice and is easy to read.

[edit] Voting

The nominator's vote is included in the "Support" section.
Nomination starts the month prior to the designated featured article month (for August, nomination is in July).
You cannot declare an article as an article of the month until the day before the month is over.
As of 1 August 2007, users may only support one candidate.

[edit] How to list an article

Put {{featured}} on the page you wish to be featured.
Create an article at RuneScape:Article of the Month/Name of article replacing name of article with the name.
On the page, place ===[[Name of article]]===, then your reason. Save.
Come to this page (RuneScape:Article of the Month) and add {{RuneScape:Article of the Month/name of article}} at the bottom to finish the process.

I want to nominate another very well written article this month. While this article doesn't have the quantity of some articles, it has increadible quality that is matched by very few articles. comment - What do you mean by intrest factor?? If you mean it isn't mainstream enough, I would prefer a more obscure article it to just another random skill.

Lucien is currently at the center of the biggest plot in RuneScape. This Article explains Lucien's exploits during the Temple of Ikov and While Guthix Sleeps, two very important quests. The information withheld in this article is very high, and deserves to be featured. Who knows, Lucien could become the next Zamorak!

Support - I have spent quite alot of time contributing to the associated mahjarrat pages, and would like to see this page as AOTM as above, as Lucien appears to be the primary protagonist at the moment with an extensive back history :P Gr33nday345 14:26, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Support - Since it's too late to nominate my own article (I'm at Las Vegas on vacation atm), I'll support this one because i skimmed thru the guide for While Guthix Sleeps and all it says is about Lucien this Lucien that. He seems pretty important and maybe will be in a future quest. But do you guys always have to nominate NPCs? I think places deserve more mention. Prifddinas is a magical elf city which humans on RuneScape havn't visited yet but seen. However the article shows it has been written carefully and very intresting. It features images and a little peak of the area but the quality of the article deserves a place in AOTM.
