Overview[]
The Dagannoth Kings attack from all 3 sides of the combat triangle, and adhere to the triangle strictly. For example, Rex, who uses melee, can only be damaged with magic, which he is extremely weak to.
King | Style | Weakness | Immune to | Immune to stun? | Unique drops | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Dagannoth Prime | Magic | Ranged | Melee Magic |
Yes | Dragon hatchet Seers' ring Mud battlestaff | |
Dagannoth Supreme | Ranged | Melee | Ranged Magic |
Yes | Dragon hatchet Archers' ring Seercull | |
Dagannoth Rex | Melee | Magic | Melee Ranged |
No | Dragon hatchet Warrior ring Berserker ring |
Getting there[]
The fastest method is to use the Boss portal in the Max Guild or to use a Dagannoth Kings teleport buyable from the GE. From there, climb down the nearby ladder, run down the hallway until the ladder into the instance and then join in on the host's instance.
Otherwise, the Dagannoth Kings are in the deepest part of Waterbirth Island Dungeon. To get to the island, talk to Jarvald on the westernmost docks in Rellekka. The island is shaped like a crescent, and the entrance is in the center, on the concave part of the shape.
Once in the dungeon, travel all the way east and open one of the doors. The northern path is the safest, as giant rock crabs are only aggressive in melee distance and cannot attack from afar. You will need either a ranged or magic weapon to knock down the door supports, using either chain or ricochet. Climb down the ladder and follow the path outlined in the map to the right.
Combat[]
As each king follows the combat triangle, it is best to take more than one style. The more participants that can attack the kings, the quicker they will be killed. Spinolyps line the perimeter of the room, but they deal insignificant amounts of damage. Standing near the center of the room will place you out of range for their attacks; however, this can be dangerous if more than one king is alive and attacking you.
Provoke does not work on the kings, as they will constantly change targets. Thus, there can be no designated tank. The Kings can deal heavy amounts of damage, but this may be compensated per individual depending on the number of participants. Dagannoth Prime and Rex both use single-target attacks. Supreme's ranged attack will target everyone within range.
As a reminder, the Kings adhere to the combat triangle very strictly. Each uses one attack style and has 1 weakness and 2 immunities. Two of the Kings are immune to being stunned.
King | Style | Weakness | Immune to | Immune to stun? |
---|---|---|---|---|
Dagannoth Prime | Magic | Ranged | Magic Melee |
Yes |
Dagannoth Supreme | Ranged | Melee | Ranged Magic |
Yes |
Dagannoth Rex | Melee | Magic | Melee Ranged |
No |
As with any powerful monster, your strongest armour for the style(s) you plan to use is recommended. For multiple styles, this either means bringing multiple sets of armor or bringing a set of hybrid armour such as warpriest armour. A full list of all armours can be found at Equipment tables.
For reference, the strongest hybrid sets for each important slot are:
- Warpriest armour
- Dragon Rider armour
- Akrisae the Doomed's equipment
- Superior Elite Void Knight equipment and Superior Void Knight equipment
- Obsidian armour
The Kings themselves are incredibly weak to the style of combat that they are not immune to, accuracy is near 100% with even tier 70 weapons. With no special attacks or moves to be wary of, any standard revolution action bar will suffice for this fight.
Drops[]
The Dagannoth Kings are the only monsters that drop Dragon hatchets, and killing them is the only other way to obtain one other than from a Crystal triskelion (and this is extremely rare).
Each king has 2 unique drops: a ring attuned to their style of combat, and another unique item.
King | Unique drops | Other valuable drops |
