Monastery of Ascension map

The rorarius is a member of the Order of Ascension, requiring 81 Slayer to kill. These monsters are found in the Monastery of Ascension, located between the Feldip Hills and Mobilising Armies along with gladii, capsarii and scutarii.

They also feature in Nomad's Elegy together with the other Ascension creatures. The Rorarii encountered in the quest do not require a Slayer level to harm, and are vulnerable to all forms of combat.

Mechanics[]

Rorarii are always found in groups, and attacking one of them will cause any nearby Rorarii to become aggressive to the attacker. When an undamaged Rorarius is attacked, it will send off an "alert" in a 5x5 radius that will cause nearby Rorarii to attack the player. Sometimes, Rorarii may send out a second "alert", causing them to go into melee distance of the player and attack them from there, where they'll attack the player with extremely inaccurate melee.

For this reason, if the player is struggling to kill Rorarii, simply damage the current ones attacking you before killing them off. If this will cause more Rorarii to attack, indirectly damage them with Corruption Shot, as the "alert" only goes off when an undamaged Rorarii is tagged.

Trivia[]

Rorarius concept art

Concept art of a rorarius; note the goblin

  • This monster's name comes from the Latin word for 'skirmisher', as well as meaning 'light-armed troops' in military terms.
  • This monster and the other monsters in the dungeon are the first to have a weakness to a generic attack style (in this case, Ranged). These weaknesses were previously restricted to players.
  • The kidnapped villagers seen in the dungeon were taken by the rorarii from Yanille and Mobilising Armies.[1]
  • According to the concept art and their appearance, rorarii are goblins who have been experimented on.
