The robes of subjugation are a full set of Magic power armour and shield that requires 70 Magic and Defence to wear. It is dropped by K'ril Tsutsaroth and his bodyguards in the God Wars Dungeon. The robes are non-degradable, and they are the Magic equivalent of Armadyl armour and Bandos armour, which are Ranged and melee sets respectively.
Unlike Armadyl and Bandos armour, the robes of subjugation did not exist at all before the God Wars expansion on 5 September 2012. They were added to enhance K'ril's drop table and give Magic an offensive armour set.
Because the robes are strong, do not degrade, and raise the wearer's Magic damage, they are in demand and considerably more expensive than Ahrim the Blighted's equipment or even ganodermic armour, which both have higher defensive bonuses. The robes of subjugation are most often used for training combat and Slayer, and for fighting bosses at higher-levels.
This armour is categorized as power armour. Whilst wearing pieces of power armour, you will receive a damage boost as long as you're using a weapon of synonymous class. Subjugation is a tier-70 magic-based armour, so, naturally, you'll need to use a magic weapon to receive the bonus. The damage boost that you receive is found by taking a percentage of the base weapon damage of a tier-70 main-handed weapon/spell/ammo of "Fastest" speed (672). Each piece of power armour that you wear gives you a higher percentage of this number, up to a maximum of 10%. The Boots and Gloves give 1% each, The Body gives 3.5%, The Legs give 2.5%, and Helmet gives 2%. Wearing an entire set of this power armour will give a 67.2 damage boost to your magic attacks.

Not long after Zamorak achieved godhood, he became worried about his followers, which were not loyal to him and were planning to betray him the same way he did with Zaros. Seeing that, he visited Razulei in the Infernal Dimensions and requested the creation of the robes of subjugation, powerful robes imbued with cruelty. After they were created, Zamorak paid Razulei handsomely and gave them to his mages. His mages drew power from the clothes with the objective of overcoming him and were flooded with pain. Desperate to cease it, they drew even more power from the robes, but it only worsened the pain and it eventually killed them.
After Zamorak's banishment, his followers that wished to return him to Gielinor were loyal, so they could use the power of the robes not only without succumbing to pain, but prospering in the name of Zamorak.
- The robes of subjugation were originally named the robes of subjection.
- Praying at the altar in K'ril Tsutsaroth's chamber while wearing any part of these robes grants an extra 10 Prayer points per piece.
