Recover special potions were made by players using the Herblore skill. It required a Herblore level of 84 to make. When the potion was drunk, the player would regain 25% of their Special attack bar. It was replaced with the Adrenaline potion when the Evolution of Combat was released.
Boosts such as Greenman's ale could be used to make this potion, and the potion could be drunk at lower levels.
A super energy potion (3-dose) and a papaya were the ingredients required to create this potion. Making this potion would give 200 Herblore experience. It could not be made with the assistance of others.
This potion could only be drunk once every 30 seconds.
Trying to drink the potion before the 30 seconds are over wouldn't waste any potion; instead, you would get a message saying, "You can't restore more special attack yet."

Uses
Edit
- Using these potions to gain extra healing or damage-dealing special attacks was extremely useful against boss monsters. Doing so effectively reduced the restore time of the special bar from 5 minutes to 1½ minutes.
- These potions could be used to recover special attack for an Enhanced Excalibur special, thus healing you. This use effectively turned your Recover Special into a food item.
- The same scenario goes with the Saradomin godsword; the recover special was effective as both a prayer recovery and a healing item.
Notes
Edit
- The Invigorate aura and its superior versions do not boost the amount of energy restored.
Flask
Edit
This potion could be made into a Recover special flask by using at least six doses of it with a Potion flask. Players did not need a specific level to turn potions into flasks, but since all untradeable potions must be made by the player, the flasks actually have the same level requirement as the potion itself.
