Monkfish are a members only fish that require level 62 fishing and successful completion of Swan Song to fish, and a cooking level of 62 to cook. When consumed, monkfish will restore 16 of a player's hitpoints. Monkfish may be caught using a Small net in the Piscatoris Fishing Colony. During the quest Swan Song, you are required to fish "fresh" monkfish, an untradable quest item. They are a very popular high level food as they are a lot cheaper then sharks, but heal almost as much (4 less).
Since Monkfish give 10 more fishing experience per catch than Sharks and are caught faster, they are a very efficient method of training the fishing skill. In addition to that, they are lighter, thus players who require a lot of running could run longer with an inventory of monkfish compared to sharks.
Burning Monkfish becomes much rarer after cooking level 90, although rumor has it that you can still burn monkfish after that, it's just extremely rare. Cooking gauntlets do not affect your ability to cook monkfish without burning them.
