A detailed view of raw anchovies

Anchovies are food items available to non-members as well as members. Eating anchovies heals only 1 hitpoint[1], which is less even than eating shrimp.

Any player can cook raw anchovies on a range or a fire to gain 30 Cooking experience points, these are also one of the few cooking items which are worth more cooked than raw and so it is profitable to cook them.[1]. By themselves, anchovies are not useful in training Cooking or for restoring hitpoints. However, they are an essential ingredient for anchovy pizzas, which players can make at level 55 Cooking, and which heal 18 hitpoints each[1], making them the highest-healing non-members' food.

However, players need level 15 Fishing to catch raw anchovies with a small net, and gain 40 experience points in doing so[2]. This makes anchovies useful for training Fishing for players with a level of 15 to 19. Player will stop burning them at 34 cooking level. Raw anchovies can be bought from Charley in Mos Le'Harmless for 16 gp.

Sometimes people use them and nitroglycerin to make their hp level good enough to train with Dharok's set.

Despite looking like blue shrimp in RuneScape, they actually are sea-fish in real life[3].

[edit] Location

They can be caught next to the fishing guide south of Lumbridge using a small net. However, there's an estimated less than 50% chance of catching anchovies at that location. Another location where anchovies can be caught is just south of the Al-Kharid bank. Another location is near the Draynor bank.
