| Examine | Empty: A pole for putting rats on. With rats: A pole with (one to six) rat(s) on it. |
| Weight | 2.2 kg |
The Rat pole is an item that members can obtain during the Ratcatchers quest. They can also use it in the Rat Pits minigame. They can wield the pole as a weapon. Players who lose their rat pole can obtain a new empty one by talking to Phingspet and Grimesquit in the varrock sewers.
Players can attach up to six dead rats to the pole. To attach a rat, the player must first be wielding the pole, and not just have it in their inventory. The player must use their cat to catch rats. When the cat catches one, the player has the option to put the rat on the pole or just not do anything. An adult cat or wily cat is recommended for this, since they have a much better success rate. the rat pole is not recommended as a weapon and is more or less for bragging rights.
The rat pole is part of a medium Varrock Task, in which players must accumulate the full six rats onto their pole.
Warning: The left-click option for the rat pole removes one rat, without prompting you first. If you wish to wield the rat pole, right-click and select "Wield."

Trivia
Edit
- Hellrats used to be added to the pole, but would only show on the pole as a normal rat. This has been fixed; Hellrats are no longer added to the pole because "[they] are too hot to add to the rat pole".
