A Ram is a male sheep. Players cannot shear rams like they can sheep. Instead they can attack them. They look like sheep and always spawn with them.
They are ideal opponents for new players to gain experience in combat, as they have a low combat level and few hitpoints. Rams are readily available in a pen at the northern end of Lumbridge, south of Varrock, north of the Monastery, south-west from Falador, and in the Fisher Realm.
Players who tried to shear a ram would receive the message "That sheep looks a little too violent to shear..." Now that the left-click option for sheep is shear, using shears on a ram gives the legendary phrase "Nothing interesting happens."
Rams seem not to patrol, instead staying only at their spawn point unless provoked.
