Featured articles or Articles of the Month (AOTM) are articles that are so good that they should be featured on the Main Page. Doing so will cause many people to notice that article, as the main page is the first thing people see when they visit the site.

[edit] Criteria

Articles must meet certain criteria. If it does not, then it can't be featured.

[edit] The article

• The article is in the ARTICLE namespace (also known as the mainspace). It cannot be a project page (RuneScape:), a template (Template:), a category (Category:), a user page (User:), a file (Image:), a discussion page (Talk: or User/Template/MediaWiki/RuneScape talk:), or a software page (MediaWiki:). It also cannot be the main page itself. We may eventually add a featured image to the main page. Any invalid nominations will be deleted.
• The article is well written and informative.
• The article follows the style guide.
• The article's pictures look nice and are not scarce.
• Overall, the article looks nice and easy to read.

[edit] Voting

• The nominator's vote is included in the "support" section.
• Nomination starts the month prior to the designated featured article month (for August, nomination is in July).
• You cannot declare an article as an article of the month until the day before the month is over.
• 50 edits minimum are required to vote. This does not include user page edits.
• As of 1 August 2007 users may only support one candidate.

[edit] How to list an article

1. Put {{featured}} on the page you wish to be featured.
2. Create an article at RuneScape:Requested featured articles/Name of article replacing name of article with the name.
3. On the page, place ===[[Name of article]]===, then your reason. Save.
4. Come to this page (RuneScape:Requested featured articles) and add {{RuneScape:Requested featured articles/name of article}} at the bottom to finish the process.

The Fist of Guthix article has very detailed information about the minigame. It also has very useful strategies for winning the games. I think it would be a good article to feature on the Main Page.  C Teng ^talk 03:58, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Clan wars is one of the best in all Non member team game of RuneScape. I would bet that most people have never even heard of this minigame before. This article is well-written and informative and should put Clan wars on the map, so to speak. September 2008

• Comment There's a big clan wars update coming very soon (most likely next month it seems) so maybe this article would be better for the front page then, as more people would want to visit an article about one of Runescape's newest (and for many arguably most exciting) additions to player killing. • Oppose As was pointed out last month, it has been nearly a year since a skill was featured, and an item has never been featured. We need one of those this month. As for you description, I love it. There hasn't been an item ever featured. So, I thought, what's the best item? Arguably, I thought, it's the Godsword! (Combat-wise, anyway).
That aside, the article is well written, and has good images (one of each of the Godswords, and its respective special attack - but only one at a time, to be kind to less powerful computers). The history behind it is correct (as far as I know), and it explains the special attacks well. Deserves to be featured.
