In 2009, a major glitch was found by a couple players that allowed them to bypass site security and gain unauthorised access to the player moderator forums on the main RuneScape site. The bug abusers, using these exploits, viewed and archived confidential moderator information discussed on the forums and used them to repeatedly harass various moderators. One of the abusers created a mirror of the information, but Jagex took down the mirror within a week.

The bug abusers who exploited this bug were already banned several times before its discovery for previous instances of bug abuse, including noclipping.
