Pirate's hook detail

The Pirate's hook is a reward from the Brimhaven Agility Arena. It costs 800 agility arena tickets to purchase from Pirate Jackie the Fruit. It is generally considered a rare item, despite not being discontinued, as most players consider it to be a waste of tickets. It can be combined with a Crab claw to make a Crabclaw hook.

Without karamja gloves 4, it takes a minimum of 800 minutes (or 13 hours 20 minutes) to earn enough tickets, which means that it is possible to make a decent profit by buying pirate's hooks from the arena and then selling them at the Grand Exchange - an average of 194,301.3 coins per hour (assuming no pillars are missed). However, it could be more worthwhile to get 1000 tickets and trade them for 320k Agility XP (or 352k if wearing Karamja gloves 2 or better), and there are much better ways to make money than obtaining and selling hooks. The minimum time required to earn these tickets is reduced to 640 minutes (or 10 hours 40 minutes) when wearing Karamja gloves 4 because of the bonus tickets received.

Trivia

  • In late 2009 and early 2010, the price of the Pirate Hook on the Grand Exchange increased considerably, and using tickets to purchase one became more popular. Its peak was about 6m, when now in 2012 it has dropped to about 1.5m. Its Grand Exchange price was always strangely low, but its street price was always understandably high.
  • Despite there being no way for the player-character to hold anything in the shield slot whilst the Hook is equipped, a shield slot item can still be equipped.
