Pikkupstix is the central character surrounding the Summoning skill. You begin the Wolf Whistle quest by speaking to him. He also sells you the Cape of Achievement for Summoning when you reach level 99 Summoning for 99,000 coins. He will tell you that familiars are summoned from the Spirit Plane.
He runs a Summoning Supplies shop selling the following Summoning related items :
- Pouch (Summoning) - 1 coin
- Spirit shards - 25 coins
- Antlers - 100 coins
- Lizard skull - 200 coins
- Summoning cape - 99,000 coins
- Spirit shard packs - 125,000 coins
He will also enchant helms to hold scrolls for free. You need to have the helm in inventory (not equipped) and if you want to sell it on the exchange you will have to ask him to unenchant it again.
[edit] Trivia
- The name is a play on "Pick-up sticks".
- The dead body is the corpse of Pikkupstix's assistant Stikklebrix, which is also a play on Stickle Bricks, a child's toy.
- He is the character on the Summoning concept art background, although he looks as though he weighs more in game than he does on the concept art.
- On the Update on the 31st March 2008, when Summoning 2 was released, he could enchant different headgear (by using the right click - enchant option). However, at the initial release there was a typo and the message appeared 'Pikkupstix chacks all the items you are holding' instead of checks. This has since been fixed.
- The name and his assistants name may be a reference to the Asterix books, where the names of all the Gaulish characters (including all druids) ended in ix (e.g. Getafix, Asterix, and Obelix).
- There's a chain restaurant called Pick Up Stix.
- On 2 September 2009, after the Personalised shop update, unlimited stocks were removed and, instead, each shop's stock was made unique to each player's account so that one player's activity did not affect what was available to another player. The update also removed the "buy X" feature, with the result that spirit shards could only be purchased in lots of 500 per purchase. Many players complained that this update impaired summoning training because it made buying supplies too time-consuming: with high-level familiars requiring more than 200 shards each, players training at higher levels - using tens of thousands of Spirit Shards in a single session - found the 500-per-click limit slow and frustrating. In response to these complaints, a 9 September 2009 update introduced the Spirit shards pack, a pack containing 5000 spirit shards; players needing large quantities could thereafter purchase up to 500 packs (for a total of 2.5 million shards) at one time. Shops currently carry 65000 spirit shards individually and 65000 spirit shards packs.
