Not to be confused with Reborn phoenix.

Phoenix (monster) chathead

The phoenix (familiar) is a level 85 combat Summoning familiar that can be summoned after completing In Pyre Need. It attacks using magic from afar and melee in close distance, hitting up to 936 damage.

The Phoenix, when summoned, grants an invisible +6 Firemaking level boost.

Phoenix pouch[]

[view][talk]

A Phoenix pouch is made by using a Summoning pouch on a Summoning obelisk with 165 spirit shards, a Crimson charm, and a Phoenix quill in the inventory. A Summoning level of 72 is required. Making the pouch earns 301 experience points. Using the pouch to summon a Phoenix gains 3 experience points and costs 80 Summoning points.

Rise from the ashes scroll[]

[view][talk]

Rise from the ashes scroll enables the use of the Rise from the ashes special move for a Phoenix. Using the pouch on a Summoning obelisk creates 10 scrolls.

Rise from the ashes has two distinct functions.

When cast directly at a target, the Phoenix blasts them with a smoke cloud, dealing up to 936 magic damage with a chance of severely (~50%) draining their combat stats (Attack, Magic and Ranged). This drops ashes on the player's tile.

Whilst ashes are on the ground, the special move can be cast on it. This will make the phoenix "rise" from the ashes, recover lost life points, and damage any enemies within the 3 by 3 grid around the phoenix. This move can deal up to 2237+ damage[source needed], but the enemy must be near (or on top of) the targeted ashes. The lower the phoenix's health, the more likely it is to hit harder when it is reborn from the ashes. At full health it will not hit for more than a few hundred life points.

The player can also drop ashes from their inventory, then use the Rise From The Ashes special, however this is not possible to do in the Duel Arena (items may not be dropped while in the Duel Arena).

It is worth noting that the scroll is multi-hitting. If there are multiple enemies near a pile of ashes when the scroll is used, then the attack will hit them all. This can target approximately 1-5 enemies, but has a glitch associated with it. If there are more than (approximately) 5 targets, the phoenix will be reborn, but not attack any of them.

Trivia[]

  • Previously, the Phoenix has a right-click "Ash-Blast" option that drops ashes on the ground. This has since been integrated into the special move.
  • Players may not enter the Phoenix Lair with this familiar.
  • Its examine text is a reference to the song "Great Balls of Fire".
  • On the first day of release, there was a bug where people could get attacked by the phoenix in multi combat zones outside player-versus-player worlds. This bug has been fixed.
