A Penance skirt is a members-only piece of armour. To wear a penance skirt, the player supposedly must have at least level 60 Ranged and level 40 Defence, according to the Defence skill guide, but just only 40 Defence is actually required to wear it. The skirt can be obtained by exchanging 375 Honour Points in each role from the Barbarian Assault minigames. It has similar stats to red dragonhide chaps. The Penance Skirt is usually used to show the skill of the person wielding it as it is fairly hard to obtain.

By wearing the Fighter torso, Penance gloves, Penance skirt, any Penance hat and Penance boots they restore prayer over time at a rate of 30 points per minute.

The penance skirt's bonuses are roughly equal to those of the Green dragonhide chaps.

• There is currently a graphical glitch with the penance skirt and abyssal whip where, if worn in combination, a tendril of the penance skirt will cling to the whip and swing with it if the player is standing still.
• There is currently a graphical glitch with the penance skirt where, if resting, it will seem as if the player is levitating.
