Leather gloves (1-5)
Players should craft leather gloves as they grant a fairly decent 13.75 xp (slightly more than spinning and firing pots). It requires thread and leather to make. Leathers can be quite expensive, with a market price of Leather coins; so newcomers are advised to obtain their leather themselves. To craft, use the needle on the leather, select the item the would want to craft (in this case leather gloves), and click 'Leatherwork'. If the needle has already been added to his/her tool-belt, they can simply click on the leather.

The Artisan's outfit is a bonus experience set from Treasure Hunter or Stealing Creation. Each piece will provide 1% more experience in Crafting. Equipping all five pieces will provide a set bonus of an additional 1%, for a total of 6% more experience.

Gold Rings (5-8)
+
Crafting potion
  +

Although slightly less efficient than leather boots (16.25 xp per pair of boots), Gold Rings provide 15 xp per ring. Gold Rings are preferable because they can provide a profit of per bar. The best furnace is the one in Edgeville, but this requires the completion of Varrock Easy Tasks.

  +
A three-dose crafting potion can be made at level 42 Herblore from Wergali and Frog spawn or purchased on the Grand Exchange for . Consuming a dose of the potion offers a temporary, visible +3 boost to Crafting, allowing the player to craft items above their level.

Tool belt items
  +

Gold amulets (8-10)
  +
Many items that are used to train Crafting can be stored on the tool belt, such as a chisel, a needle, a glassblowing pipe, and most moulds. This saves inventory space while training.
A way to make a small profit and still train crafting is to make Gold amulet (unstrung) on a Furnace with Gold bars and an Amulet mould. Smelting gold amulets grants 30 xp and per gold bar.

  +
Sacred clay needles
Gold bracelets are most likely a better choice as the 25 exp per bracelet is more than made up by the additional profit of you make per bar.

  +

  +
A sacred clay needle can be obtained for 20 Stealing Creation points and will grant 24,450 bonus experience in Crafting upon use. Playing organised non-combat Stealing Creation yields around 120,000 bonus experience per hour. For more information, see the Stealing Creation page.

Portable crafters
Level 10 through 38
  +

Bowstrings (10-38)
  +
Portable crafters are extremely useful for any sort of Crafting training - in addition to a 10% experience bonus, they also provide a 10% chance to retain hides, and a 5% chance for gems barring onyx and hydrix, which helps offset the high cost of Crafting training. The crafters also double as a tannery, so placing it next to a bank where applicable means that one can tan hides at the highest rate possible.
A common way for members to train crafting is to spin bowstrings on a spinning wheel, which requires flax. It is popular because it is has a low level requirement of 10 crafting and fairly fast way of training crafting up for low to medium level crafters and earns quite a bit of money as the bowstrings are highly desired by fletchers. Each Bowstring grants 15 Crafting experience when spun. Spinning wheels a short distance from a bank can be found in Lumbridge Castle, Seers' Village and Neitiznot (requires starting Fremennik Isles quest). Players who choose to pick their own flax may also find that the field in Taverley is very efficient, as there is a spinning wheel on the short route between it and the bank. Some players may choose to spin bowstrings until level 50+ due to the profit it gives.

  +
Locations for training
For example, if you were to buy 1k Flax.

  +
Most methods of training rely on having a bank nearby.
  +
Spinning wheels
  +
* A convenient spinning wheel is on the first floor of Lumbridge Castle, with a bank directly above it on the next floor.
  +
* Neitiznot houses a spinning wheel just south-east of the bank, though the isle requires completion of The Fremennik Isles quest, and thus level 46 Crafting (boosts can be used).
  +
* There's a spinning wheel in Seers' Village, just south-west of the bank.
  +
* There are 2 spinning wheels located in Burthorpe, south of the Gnome Banker, shopkeeper and Mistress Fara. Located right outside of the cow pen.

  +
Looms
  +
* There are two looms located at the crafting tent in Burthorpe, west of the Druids' Circle.
  +
* One is in the farmhouse by the Falador cabbage patch, which is inconvenient without the Explorer's ring 3 or 4.
  +
* One is in the western part of the Cadarn district in Prifddinas, north of the Max Guild.

  +
Pottery ovens and potter's wheel
Spin it all into bowstrings.

  +
Both pottery ovens and wheels are used in the creation of urns and other clay products. Note that a portable crafter can function as both a wheel and an oven, which may save a lot of time, as it can be placed immediately next to a bank.
  +
* Both a potter's wheel and an oven are in a house just south-east of the Varrock East bank.
  +
* Both a potter's wheel and an oven are on the ground floor of the Crafting Guild, which is itself very close to a bank chest in the clan camp (note entering the guild requires 40 Crafting).
  +
* Both a potter's wheel and oven can be found west of the druid circle in Burthorpe, south of the bank.
  +
* Both facilities can be found very close to the bank chest in the Ithell district of Prifddinas. This is the fastest method, however access to the city requires the completion of the Plague's End quest, and thus level 75 Crafting (among many other requirements).

  +
Tannery
  +
Tanneries can be used by players who wish to tan their own leather. They can be found in a few locations:
  +
* Portable crafter (the cost is same as regular tanner).
  +
* A tanner can be found just South of the Varrock West bank.
  +
* One resides on the first floor of the Crafting Guild.
  +
* Jack Oval can be found between North Taverley and South Burthorpe, and will tan hides for the player.
  +
* A tanner lives in a house just a stone's throw North of the Al Kharid bank.
  +
* The closest tanner to a bank resides in the Ithell district of Prifddinas, however, as mentioned above, this requires completion of the Plague's End quest, and thus level 75 Crafting (among many other requirements).

  +
Furnace
You would earn a profit of:

  +
Furnaces are used in the production of jewellery. Several furnaces exist within a short range of a bank:
  +
* Edgeville has a furnace only 13 squares from a bank, however it requires the easy Varrock tasks.
  +
* A furnace exists on Neitiznot that is 15 squares from a bank; however, it requires the player to at least start The Fremennik Isles.
  +
* Port Phasmatys houses a furnace that is only 17 squares away from a bank. There are no requirements to use it, though a ghostspeak amulet will speed up banking.
  +
* There is a furnace next to the bank chest in Lumbridge, in the Combat Academy.

  +
Training Crafting
  +
At low levels, both crafting urns and making jewellery offer good experience rates for relatively low costs, or even small profits. Since intervals between gaining levels are fairly small, switching to the most effective method isn't always time-efficient, as obtaining the resources may consume more time than would be saved. While jewellery and urns offers moderate experience at low costs, low-level players who seek faster rates should consider cutting gems. Cutting sapphires costs about coins per experience, however it offers rates of up to 200,000 experience per hour, starting at level 20 (in other words, a player could reach level 57 Crafting in an hour from level 20.)

  +
Starting at level 54, players often train Crafting with battlestaves. Water battlestaves offer about , and thus a good balance of gp/xp for most players. Players who seek faster experience rates can start making green dragonleather bodies at level 63, though these cost about per point of experience. Players who are tight on money should instead consider making higher-level urns, such as decorated fishing and cooking urns.
Level 38 through 51<nowiki/>
  +
Level 1 - 46+: Glassblowing
Coifs (38-51)
  +
Molten glass
Craft coifs for 37 XP each. Cowhides can be either be bought for Cowhide each or obtained by killing cows. The best places to kill cows are in the Lumbridge cow field, near Beefy Bill to the north of the Lumbridge windmill, or at the farm located just south of the Burthrope loadstone. The closest tanner to a bank is Ellis's tanner shop in Al Kharid, but those using the Burthrope farm should use Jack Oval instead, as he is closer to the field. After crafting the coifs, they should be sold to Jack Oval for 60 coins each. If you kill cows at the Burthrope farm, tan the hides at Jack Oval, and then sell him the coifs, you'll get 12,000 Crafting experience, about 10,000 combat experience, and 19,440 coins per hour (assuming you fill your inventory in five minutes).

  +
Molten glass can be made on a furnace using a bucket of sand and Soda ash (obtained by cooking seaweed on a range or in a fire). Molten glass can then be made into several useful items with a glassblowing pipe (tool belt will work). Players should visit Fritz the Glassblower on Entrana, who can teach the player how to make molten glass. Training this way is a good strategy for going from level 1-30, as glasswork offers decent experience rates.

  +
Starting at level 46 Crafting, making orbs via glassblowing is an excellent method of training, granting 52.5 experience per orb and on average around 91,000 with no interruption and possibly up to 120,000 experience per hour. Molten glass can be bought for each, and unpowered orbs sell back for . Powering orbs is a good way of earning money, as the charged orbs fetch much higher prices (air: , water: , earth: , fire: ).
Level 51 through 62
Urns
Crafting Urns at the pottery station in Ardougne can produce approximately 421 urns per hour. While not spectacular experience, these urns can then be used in training other skills as well, so it's a win-win. To estimate the xp/hr of an urn, multiply the total experience gained by crafting the urn by 421 [421 * (XP from forming + XP from firing)]. For example, the xp/hr of a Decorated mining urn (nr) (requires 59 Crafting) is 421*95, which is 39,900 xp/hr. If you're mining and wetting the clay yourself, multiply the total experience by 210 instead.

  +
Players who have completed the Hand in the Sand quest can obtain 84 buckets of sand per day from Bert. Seaweed can either be purchased from the Grand Exchange or from Arhein in Catherby. Players with level 77 Magic who have completed the Lunar Diplomacy quest can use the Superglass Make spell, which can substitute soda ash with raw seaweed or swamp weed, as well as producing about 30% more glass for free.
Using the pottery wheel in Burthorpe is a great place to work due to the convenience of the nearby bank chest. It also has a well which is a water source, where you can soften your clay.

  +
Level 1-54+
Gunnarsgrunn (Barbarian Village) has a clay mine just south and a well just northwest of the potter's wheel. The Grand Exchange is nearby as well.

  +
Pottery and jewellery - slow but cheap
  +
Note: The table below assumes the player purchases soft clay from the Grand Exchange. Players can make their own by using clay on a water source, earning (and one Crafting experience) per clay, thus saving per urn. Players can also mine their own clay, which would save per clay, or per urn.

  +
New players can also make bowstrings from flax, as these offer a bit of money, as well as slow Crafting experience.
Crafting urns can sometimes make a decent profit for the player. For example, the strong mining urn requires two soft clay (costing ) and sells for , which means that each one crafted and sold profits . For more information, see Calculator:Crafting/Urns on the profitability of crafting different urns.

  +
Consider the cost of obtaining resources when using the methods below, as prices change over time. A calculator with the prices, experience, and gp/xp rates can be found here. A similar calculator containing all items of jewellery up to and including onyx can be found here. Note that all price calculations are based on buying and selling resources and products at current Grand Exchange rates.
Level 62-71
From this part, there isn't a linear way to train Crafting, only a mixture of ways where you should pick to your advantage.

Cheap but slow experience - More Urns
  +
<!-------------------Please edit below this line, thank you-------------------->
Urns continue to be a viable option to train Crafting for profit, especially if the Falador Hard Tasks have been completed, as they unlock a deposit box in the Crafting Guild that allows for faster production. Keep looking at the calculator mentioned above to determine profitability. Strong woodcutting urns, unlocked at level 61, profit per urn ( taking into account the opportunity costs) and can turn out 21,000xp per hour.

Slower method - Gems
After completion of the Shilo Village quest, you can mine gems at the gem mining site. Equip a charged Amulet of Glory and ring of wealth. You can fletch the lower level gems into bolt tips, and cut higher level gems for crafting experience, from sapphire (50 xp) to diamond (107.5xp). You also get mining experience (65xp) for each gem rock mined.

Fast but only every 4 hours - Battlestaves
Crafting elemental battlestaves is one of the fastest crafting experience available. However, it is more difficult to obtain mass quantities of battlestaves due to the limit for them on the Grand Exchange (100 per 4 hours). Keep in mind that up to 80 battlestaves may be bought from Naff with the elite Varrock Tasks done, and another 20 from Baba Yaga on Lunar Isle daily. In order to obtain battlestaves faster, one may choose to buy them in bulk from players on the Runescape Forums. Assuming the player has the battlestaves and charged orbs ready, it is possible to craft around 2,200 battlestaves per hour. Reference Calculator:Crafting/Battlestaves for a more complete breakdown.

Dragonhide armour is used for medium and high-level ranged players, and the Crafting experience is decent and relatively quick. But the resources are expensive, but is still required.

Note that, crafting dragonhide armour does require a thread.

Below is a table showing the production costs for each dragonhide body.

All you have to do now is craft the d'hide body appropriate to your Crafting level.

Fast and expensive - cutting gems
Jewellery making
  +
Cutting gems is a fast and expensive way of training Crafting. Gems can be obtained in a few ways, however most players prefer to buy them en masse from the Grand Exchange. A few other ways include:
  +
* Buying from shops or players
  +
* Mining Gem rocks in Shilo Village (requires completion of the quest) or Prifddinas. The large majority of gems obtained this way are low-level gems like opal, topaz, and jade. Wearing an Amulet of glory and the Ring of wealth will improve the speed at which gems are mined.
  +
* Mining most ore rocks (rare, and is mined at the same time as the respective ore)
  +
* Stealing from safes
  +
* Monster drops
  +
* The Gnome Restaurant activity
  +
* Magpies who forage gems and rings

  +
Below is a table showing experience rates for the different types of gems. All experience/hour is an estimate and this table assumes gems are cut per hour. Players considering cutting jade should note that they are crushed far more frequently than other gems; about 21% of the time at level 69 Crafting, and about 8% of the time at level 89. Crushed gems will still yield a small amount of experience, but can no longer be sold for any return.
Jewellery making is a common way to train crafting. Making amulets with gems consists of several steps, considering:

#Buy or obtain gem,

#Buy or obtain gold bar

#Cut the gem

#Smelt the gem and gold bar in a furnace.

#Use ball of wool on the amulet to string it,

#Sell it.

  +
{| class="wikitable sortable"
For jewellery other than amulets, step 5 is omitted, for pure gold jewellery, step 1 and 3 are omitted.

  +
! Gem
You can make up to 1,100 gemmed pieces of jewellery per hour, depending on your level of concentration and speed with a few miss clicks.

Buying or obtaining gems
  +
! Cut price
Gems can only be obtained in a few ways for players: Purchasing from the Grand Exchange, buying from shops or players, mining (randomly from normal rocks or Gem rocks), stealing from safes, monster drops, the Gnome Restaurant activity, the sapphire spawn in deep wilderness or if you have the Summoning level for it, and magpies, who forage gems and rings. Uncut gems can be cut for crafting experience, but cut gems are much cheaper. Below is a list of cost of buying uncut and cut gems at GE: (The Amulet of Glory and the Ring of Wealth increase your chance of getting gems while mining ore.)

*Cut sapphire: Sapphire

*Cut emerald: Emerald

*Cut ruby: Ruby

*Cut diamond: Diamond

Gold Smithing
Gold bars can be obtained in two ways: smelting gold ore which requires 40 smithing or directly buying from the GE. The current prices of gold ore and gold bars are Gold ore coins and Gold bar coins respectively, which gives purchasers a distinct advantage, since the difference in the GE price is determined by so-called Goldsmithing for members. With goldsmithing gauntlets obtained from the quest Family crest, a very large portion of smithing experience is gained, but this doesn't change the fact of major loss. One way to Greatly lower money loss is to free the Rogue in Rogue's Castle, this requires Summer's End to be completed for the Upgraded Jennica's Ring. He will be in the small home with a range near the small Varrock bank. He will buy any unenchanted Jewellery and pays 220 gold for the Gold Bracelet you will lose around 150 coins, this will effectively earn both Smithing and Crafting experience as well as greatly lowering the amount of money you lose per gold bar, you can also sell them noted to him to save time.

Cutting Gems
*Information This is the quickest, but most expensive, method of gaining crafting experience. Simply left click a gem to cut it. All amounts approximate and this table assumes gems are cut per hour.

Smelting jewellery
+
Enchanting jewellery
  +
Players who are making jewellery should consider enchanting their items as well. Several items (such as the games necklace, ring of duelling, and the amulet of glory) are significantly more valuable after being enchanted, as well as granting some Magic experience.
A close furnace should be chosen to mass-produce jewellery. The best furnaces to use are Edgeville or Port Phasmatys. An amulet mould, necklace mould, bracelet mould or ring mould is brought along with equal number of gold bars and cut gems, although these should already be on your toolbelt. A detailed experience table can be seen in the Crafting article. Rings require the lowest level to craft, necklaces originally gave the best reward of cash, which is now surpassed by buying gold bars at the current Grand Exchange price of Gold bar coins each and making them into gold bracelets. These can then be sold to the Rogue in Varrock, as he will always buy them at the low alchemy price of 220 coins each - it is almost always possible to double your money depending on gold bar prices. Although it is possible to make a lot of money with this method, it does also entail its cons as the experience is also slow.

Bracelets can be High Alched if you have Level 55 Magic or higher, for 330 gp. This actually gains more profit (with a fire staff), and generates Magic experience.

Due to the low price of Dragonstones, High Alching or sometime selling Dragonstone bracelets that you made is profitable. Making Dragonstone bracelets at Edgeville with Pack yak gives up to 150k experience per hour.

Amulets bear maximum experience and highest requirement, while carrying some inconvenience as stringing is needed. Unstrung amulets can be sold on the Grand Exchange to players wishing to train magic via the String Jewellery spell under the Lunar Magicks.

A player can buy cut sapphires or emeralds, cosmic runes, and gold bars and smelt them into sapphire necklaces or emerald rings. Then they can enchant them and sell the finished games necklaces or rings of duelling for a profit, while gaining valuable crafting and magic experience.

Stringing amulets
Stringing amulets
Ball of wool can be bought at GE for Ball of wool coins each, or using spinning wheel to spin wool. Casual players can take advantage of Fred the farmer's farm, where sheep inhabit the area alongside a spawn of shears. The closest spinning wheel from the farm is on the first floor of the Lumbridge castle.
+
A Ball of wool can be bought on the Grand Exchange for Ball of wool coins each, or crafted on a spinning wheel out of wool (see above for locations). It provides minimal experience and little or no money, and thus few players prefer to use this method to train.

At level 80 magic the spell String Jewellery can be cast to automatically string all amulets in a player's inventory. This is much more expensive than using a ball of wool, but is another way to train Magic and Crafting quickly.
+
At level 80 Magic the spell String Jewellery can be cast to automatically string all amulets in a player's inventory. Even with a mud staff this is about twice as expensive as using wool, however it is easier, and also grants some Magic and Crafting experience.

Enchanting
+
Level 54+
  +
Battlestaves - fast, but requires stockpiling
With sufficient magic level, jewellery with gems can be enchanted. Although this gives magic exp, it does allow you to make a profit from the jewellery you make. Currently, emerald rings are one of the best types of jewellery to enchant.

  +
Crafting elemental battlestaves provides fast experience for its level at a moderate to high cost, though the Grand Exchange can make this method somewhat slower by limiting the purchase of staves to only 1,000 every 4 hours (see below for tips on acquiring battlestaves). Assuming the player has the battlestaves and charged orbs ready, it is possible to craft around 2,600 elemental staves an hour using bank presets.

  +
Unpowered orbs can be made by hand using glassblowing (see below) and then charged, though most players prefer to skip this stage and purchase charged orbs from the Grand Exchange to save time. If a player wishes to stockpile orbs before they can craft the staves, they can make molten glass and blow it into an unpowered orb for a total of 52.5 experience per orb, requiring 46 Crafting. Note that charging the orbs can be very tedious, as the obelisks are difficult to get to.
Glass making
Molten glass

Members will also find useful making molten glass and crafting it into different items with a glassblowing pipe. Entrana is the best place to start it out, since Fritz the Glassblower teaches how to make molten glass and also all the items needed for making glass are available in the island. Members can level up within Entrana from level 1 to 30, crafting a variety of glasses that give a decent experience compared to regular crafting. For further convenient glass making, players should complete Hand in the Sand, so Bert gives 84 buckets of sand daily, buy Seaweed from Arhein in Catherby and cooking it to get Soda ash, and using Port Phasmatys or Edgeville furnace to speed up the glass making process, alternatively, a player who has completed the Lunar isle quests, and has level 77 Magic, could use the spell Superglass Make which not only saves time having not to cook the seaweed, but also has the chance of producing extra molten glass for free. Glassblowing can be a decent training tool well into the 90's with 52xp per orb and a possible 90k xp per hr.

Yaks
+
Collecting staves
  +
*Players can purchase up to 1,000 battlestaves on the Grand Exchange every four hours, though this limit can be circumvented by asking other players to buy them for you; players can check the forums for others selling them in larger amounts.
Make Yak-hide legs. Making legs gives 32 exp (the same amount of experience as bodies), but uses only 1 hide rather than 2.

  +
*Players can buy up to 8 battlestaves from Naff in Varrock square. Players who have obtained Varrock armour 1, 2, 3, or 4 have this limit increased to 16, 32, 64, and 80 respectively.
  +
*After completing Lunar Diplomacy, a stock of 20 can be bought from Baba Yaga in her house on the Lunar Isle.
  +
*Haf will sell a stock of 20; she can be found by the Elven grimoire in Prifddinas. Her assistant, Lunet, will sell an additional 16 to players who have completed the hard Tirannwn tasks.
  +
*They can be purchased from the Mage Training Arena, however this is slow and tedious.
  +
*They can be obtained as a drop from several monsters (see battlestaff for more information).

Elemental battlestaves
+
Cost analysis
  +
{| class="wikitable sortable"
Crafting elemental battlestaves is one of the fastest crafting experience available. However, it is more difficult to obtain mass quantities of battlestaves due to the limit for them on the Grand Exchange (100 per 4 hours). Keep in mind that up to 80 battlestaves may be bought from Naff with the elite Varrock Tasks done, and another 20 from Baba Yaga on Lunar Isle daily. In order to obtain battlestaves faster, one may choose to buy them in bulk from players on the Runescape Forums.

Level 63+
Below is a table when buying the battlestaves from Naff. Keep in mind that the money you save is offset by the time taken to buy and bank the staves.

  +
Dragonhide armour - fast and expensive
  +
Dragonhide armour is crafted from dragon leather, requiring a needle (tool belt will work), and consuming thread. Dragonhide armour offers very high experience rates (typically 300,000+ per hour), though at higher costs. Players who wish to gain cheaper experience should continue using the methods described above. With the use of inventory presets up to 1,600 bodies or shields can be made in an hour. Using a yak can increase this to 1,800 per hour.

  +
If you are level 55 Magic or above, it is possible to High Alch the dragonhide armour. This saves a substantial amount of money in the long run, whilst also granting Magic experience and avoiding the Grand Exchange buy limit.

Harmonium harps - (level 75+)
Urns
  +
Playing the harps located within the Ithell district in Prifddinas offers moderate (about 50,000 experience per hour, as well as a little construction experience) rates with little attention required. Level 75 Crafting is required to play the harps, and the Plague's End quest is required to access the city. Playing the harps will yield small amounts of harmonic dust, which is used to craft crystal tools and equipment. Harps will gradually fall out of tune in increments of 10%, granting only half the harmonic dust at 50%, and becoming totally unplayable at 100%; the harp can be tuned again at any time, granting 50 construction experience for every 10% tuned.
While crafting Urns at the pottery station in Ardougne, one can make approximately 420 urns per hour, using two soft clay per urn. While not spectacular experience, these urns can then be used in training other skills as well, so it's a win-win. To figure out the xp/hr of an urn, multiply 420 by the total experience gained by crafting the urn [420 * (XP from Forming + XP from Firing)]. For example, the xp/hr of a Decorated Mining Urn (requires 59 Crafting) is 420*95, which is 39,900 xp/hr.

  +
Level 89+: flasks and crystal flasks
While crafting Urns in the Crafting Guild using a Pack Yak, a Skills necklace and a banking jewellery such as Ring of duelling, Explorer's Ring (3), Ring of kinship or TokKul-Zo (the latter three being preferred for their unlimited charges), you can craft up to 560 urns per hour, so if they are Decorated cooking urn the xp per hour is 72800. You also can make some profit depending on the price of Soft clay and urns, while training Crafting. Alternatively, if you do not have a high enough summoning level to use a Pack Yak, or simply do not wish to waste any money, you can also use a Clan Vexillum and a Ring of Kinship to get the job done.

  +
Players who have level 81 Mining can mine up to 50 blocks of red sandstone a day from the Oo'glog red sandstone mine, and a further 25 from the Sophanem red sandstone mine after completing the Elite desert tasks. The red sandstone can then be made into robust glass (there is no requirement for this step, as it grants no experience) on a robust glass machine. Players with level 89 Crafting can then blow the glass into potion flasks, granting 100 experience per flask. This is also a good source of money, since each flask sells for on the Grand Exchange.

  +
Players with level 81 Mining who have completed the Plague's End quest can mine up to 50 crystal-flecked sandstone each day in the crystal-flecked sandstone mine in the Ithell district of Prifddinas. They are crafted in an identical fashion to regular flasks, and give 150 experience each. Players who have level 115 Dungeoneering can mine a further 25 each day in the Edimmu resource dungeon. While they offer more experience than regular flasks, they are considerably lower in price ().
Another place one might want to consider is the east bank in Varrock. Just south of the bank is both a potter's wheel and a pottery oven, as well as a water source nearby, this location is much closer to a bank than Ardougne location.

  +
Players often keep the molten glass until Double XP Weekend, to maximise the XP gained.
Although the previous sections show where to make urns, They leave out one place in particular, Gunnarsgrunn (Barbarian Village). There is a clay mine just south of the potters wheel and a well just north west of the same Wheel. The grand exchange is nearby as well as a magic shop for runes.

Crafting Salve gloves in Daemonheim from Salve nettles will yield a total of 15 experience each (2.5 from making the cloth, and another 12.5 from crafting the item itself). Salve nettles can be farmed from the available resources or bought from the Smuggler for 420 coins. The completed gloves fetch a return of 84 coins when sold. At higher levels, other salve items can be made, as they yield the same gp/xp rate but are faster to make. Higher levels will also come with higher tiers of cloth.

Alternative choice is Protoleather armour which requires no processing at the spinning wheel, slightly reducing over experience per dungeon but significantly speeding up the progress.

Weaving (Clan Citadel)
Weaving at the loom in a Clan Citadel can be tremendous experience, usually 120k/h for a total of about 200k xp each week. The amount of experience gained is dependent on your level in crafting, usually around double the level. Although it is slightly slow and much attention is needed, it's free, no items are required and you can gain hundreds of thousands of experience for completing your cap every build tick (once a week). In addition to this experience, you can also earn a Bonus experience good towards any of the skills for which the citadel currently has plots (which can be used for bonus crafting exp during regular training) and fealty experience from the Clan cloak for skilling each week once you have reached fealty rank 3.
+
Training on the loom in a Clan Citadel (tier 5 or higher) is both fast and free (though very click-intensive). The experience scales to the players level (see this article for more details), with higher levels achieving around 120,000 experience per hour, for a total of about 200,000 experience each week (assuming the player has achieved a fealty of 3). The player can complete their cap every build tick (once a week). Players who have completed over 50% of their cap can also claim some bonus experience from the Quartermaster, which can go towards any of the skills available in the citadel; a player with level 99 Crafting can claim 55,226 bonus experience for doing this.
  +
  +
There is also the Clan cloak fealty reward, although most prefer to use this on harder to obtain skills.

While this is not a consistent method of training, players who have acquired Lacquer from voyages can craft both tradeable and untradeable tier-85 ranged armour, yielding 10,000 experience for the hood, 20,000 for the legs, and 30,000 for the body. Players can also make a Reefwalker's cape and a Leviathan ring from koi scales and pearls respectively, each granting 10,000 experience. Note that this experience is gained in the normal way, so things like bonus experience, skill outfits, the wisdom aura, and other such items will increase the experience gained. Both superior and regular gear grant the same experience, and the tradeable armour is also an excellent source of money.

Crafting potion

Crafting potion (3)

A three-dose crafting potion can be made at level 42 Herblore from Wergali and Frog spawn or purchased on the Grand Exchange for 1,599. Consuming a dose of the potion offers a temporary, visible +3 boost to Crafting, allowing the player to craft items above their level.

Tool belt items

Needle

Many items that are used to train Crafting can be stored on the tool belt, such as a chisel, a needle, a glassblowing pipe, and most moulds. This saves inventory space while training.

Sacred clay needles

Sacred clay needle

A sacred clay needle can be obtained for 20 Stealing Creation points and will grant 24,450 bonus experience in Crafting upon use. Playing organised non-combat Stealing Creation yields around 120,000 bonus experience per hour. For more information, see the Stealing Creation page.

Portable crafters

Portable crafter

Portable crafters are extremely useful for any sort of Crafting training - in addition to a 10% experience bonus, they also provide a 10% chance to retain hides, and a 5% chance for gems barring onyx and hydrix, which helps offset the high cost of Crafting training. The crafters also double as a tannery, so placing it next to a bank where applicable means that one can tan hides at the highest rate possible.

Locations for training

Most methods of training rely on having a bank nearby.

Spinning wheels

 • A convenient spinning wheel is on the first floor of Lumbridge Castle, with a bank directly above it on the next floor.
 • Neitiznot houses a spinning wheel just south-east of the bank, though the isle requires completion of The Fremennik Isles quest, and thus level 46 Crafting (boosts can be used).
 • There's a spinning wheel in Seers' Village, just south-west of the bank.
 • There are 2 spinning wheels located in Burthorpe, south of the Gnome Banker, shopkeeper and Mistress Fara. Located right outside of the cow pen.

Looms

Pottery ovens and potter's wheel

Both pottery ovens and wheels are used in the creation of urns and other clay products. Note that a portable crafter can function as both a wheel and an oven, which may save a lot of time, as it can be placed immediately next to a bank.

 • Both a potter's wheel and an oven are in a house just south-east of the Varrock East bank.
 • Both a potter's wheel and an oven are on the ground floor of the Crafting Guild, which is itself very close to a bank chest in the clan camp (note entering the guild requires 40 Crafting).
 • Both a potter's wheel and oven can be found west of the druid circle in Burthorpe, south of the bank.
 • Both facilities can be found very close to the bank chest in the Ithell district of Prifddinas. This is the fastest method, however access to the city requires the completion of the Plague's End quest, and thus level 75 Crafting (among many other requirements).

Tannery

Tanneries can be used by players who wish to tan their own leather. They can be found in a few locations:

 • Portable crafter (the cost is same as regular tanner).
 • A tanner can be found just South of the Varrock West bank.
 • One resides on the first floor of the Crafting Guild.
 • Jack Oval can be found between North Taverley and South Burthorpe, and will tan hides for the player.
 • A tanner lives in a house just a stone's throw North of the Al Kharid bank.
 • The closest tanner to a bank resides in the Ithell district of Prifddinas, however, as mentioned above, this requires completion of the Plague's End quest, and thus level 75 Crafting (among many other requirements).

Furnace

Furnaces are used in the production of jewellery. Several furnaces exist within a short range of a bank:

Training Crafting

At low levels, both crafting urns and making jewellery offer good experience rates for relatively low costs, or even small profits. Since intervals between gaining levels are fairly small, switching to the most effective method isn't always time-efficient, as obtaining the resources may consume more time than would be saved. While jewellery and urns offers moderate experience at low costs, low-level players who seek faster rates should consider cutting gems. Cutting sapphires costs about −7.66 coins per experience, however it offers rates of up to 200,000 experience per hour, starting at level 20 (in other words, a player could reach level 57 Crafting in an hour from level 20.)

Starting at level 54, players often train Crafting with battlestaves. Water battlestaves offer about −9.8, and thus a good balance of gp/xp for most players. Players who seek faster experience rates can start making green dragonleather bodies at level 63, though these cost about −7.85 per point of experience. Players who are tight on money should instead consider making higher-level urns, such as decorated fishing and cooking urns.

Level 1 - 46+: Glassblowing

Main article: Molten glass

Molten glass can be made on a furnace using a bucket of sand and Soda ash (obtained by cooking seaweed on a range or in a fire). Molten glass can then be made into several useful items with a glassblowing pipe (tool belt will work). Players should visit Fritz the Glassblower on Entrana, who can teach the player how to make molten glass. Training this way is a good strategy for going from level 1-30, as glasswork offers decent experience rates.

Starting at level 46 Crafting, making orbs via glassblowing is an excellent method of training, granting 52.5 experience per orb and on average around 91,000 with no interruption and possibly up to 120,000 experience per hour. Molten glass can be bought for 613 each, and unpowered orbs sell back for 724. Powering orbs is a good way of earning money, as the charged orbs fetch much higher prices (air: 5,831, water: 5,942, earth: 6,854, fire: 5,232).

Level 1-54+

Pottery and jewellery - slow but cheap

Note: The table below assumes the player purchases soft clay from the Grand Exchange. Players can make their own by using clay on a water source, earning 79 (and one Crafting experience) per clay, thus saving 158 per urn. Players can also mine their own clay, which would save 419 per clay, or 838 per urn.

New players can also make bowstrings from flax, as these offer a bit of money, as well as slow Crafting experience.

Fast and expensive - cutting gems

Cutting gems is a fast and expensive way of training Crafting. Gems can be obtained in a few ways, however most players prefer to buy them en masse from the Grand Exchange. A few other ways include:

Below is a table showing experience rates for the different types of gems. All experience/hour is an estimate and this table assumes 4,000 gems are cut per hour. Players considering cutting jade should note that they are crushed far more frequently than other gems; about 21% of the time at level 69 Crafting, and about 8% of the time at level 89. Crushed gems will still yield a small amount of experience, but can no longer be sold for any return.

Enchanting jewellery

Players who are making jewellery should consider enchanting their items as well. Several items (such as the games necklace, ring of duelling, and the amulet of glory) are significantly more valuable after being enchanted, as well as granting some Magic experience.

Stringing amulets

A Ball of wool can be bought on the Grand Exchange for 1067 coins each, or crafted on a spinning wheel out of wool (see above for locations). It provides minimal experience and little or no money, and thus few players prefer to use this method to train.

At level 80 Magic the spell String Jewellery can be cast to automatically string all amulets in a player's inventory. Even with a mud staff this is about twice as expensive as using wool, however it is easier, and also grants some Magic and Crafting experience.

Level 54+

Battlestaves - fast, but requires stockpiling

Crafting elemental battlestaves provides fast experience for its level at a moderate to high cost, though the Grand Exchange can make this method somewhat slower by limiting the purchase of staves to only 1,000 every 4 hours (see below for tips on acquiring battlestaves). Assuming the player has the battlestaves and charged orbs ready, it is possible to craft around 2,600 elemental staves an hour using bank presets.

Collecting staves

 • Players can purchase up to 1,000 battlestaves on the Grand Exchange every four hours, though this limit can be circumvented by asking other players to buy them for you; players can check the forums for others selling them in larger amounts.
 • Players can buy up to 8 battlestaves from Naff in Varrock square. Players who have obtained Varrock armour 1, 2, 3, or 4 have this limit increased to 16, 32, 64, and 80 respectively.
 • After completing Lunar Diplomacy, a stock of 20 can be bought from Baba Yaga in her house on the Lunar Isle.
 • Haf will sell a stock of 20; she can be found by the Elven grimoire in Prifddinas. Her assistant, Lunet, will sell an additional 16 to players who have completed the hard Tirannwn tasks.
 • They can be purchased from the Mage Training Arena, however this is slow and tedious.
 • They can be obtained as a drop from several monsters (see battlestaff for more information).

Level 63+

Dragonhide armour - fast and expensive

Dragonhide armour is crafted from dragon leather, requiring a needle (tool belt will work), and consuming thread. Dragonhide armour offers very high experience rates (typically 300,000+ per hour), though at higher costs. Players who wish to gain cheaper experience should continue using the methods described above. With the use of inventory presets up to 1,600 bodies or shields can be made in an hour. Using a yak can increase this to 1,800 per hour.

If you are level 55 Magic or above, it is possible to High Alch the dragonhide armour. This saves a substantial amount of money in the long run, whilst also granting Magic experience and avoiding the Grand Exchange buy limit.

Harmonium harps - (level 75+)

Level 89+: flasks and crystal flasks

Players who have level 81 Mining can mine up to 50 blocks of red sandstone a day from the Oo'glog red sandstone mine, and a further 25 from the Sophanem red sandstone mine after completing the Elite desert tasks. The red sandstone can then be made into robust glass (there is no requirement for this step, as it grants no experience) on a robust glass machine. Players with level 89 Crafting can then blow the glass into potion flasks, granting 100 experience per flask. This is also a good source of money, since each flask sells for 6,560 on the Grand Exchange.

While they offer more experience than regular flasks, they are considerably lower in price (3,556).

Players often keep the molten glass until Double XP Weekend, to maximise the XP gained.

Other ways to train

Dungeoneering (level 1+) - slow but free

There is also the Clan cloak fealty reward, although most prefer to use this on harder to obtain skills.

Player-owned port - Level 90+

Main article: Player-owned port
