An Oyster may or may not contain pearls when you open it. An opened oyster becomes an oyster pearl or an empty oyster. Usually a non-empty oyster contains only 1 pearl which can be made into 6 Pearl bolt tips. Rarely, they can contain 3 pearls which can be made into 24 Pearl bolt tips.
You can use a chisel on the oyster pearls to create pearl bolt tips, which used with the fletching skill can be turned into pearl bolts. This requires 41 level of fletching.
You may also obtain an oyster while doing the quest, Recipe For Disaster. During the part of killing mudskippers they may or may not drop oysters.
You may catch an oyster while fishing with a big fishing net or while panning at the Digsite, withdrawn from a Granite Crab, or obtained as drops from the following:
- Crab
- Dagannoth
- Dagannoth Prime
- Giant Lobster
- Giant Mole
- Kalphite Queen
- King Black Dragon
- Mogre
- Mudskipper
- River Troll
- Rock Crab
- Sea Snake Hatchling
- Waterfiend
In earlier days of Runescape, chance of getting pearls from oysters was low. This was increased with the introduction of gem-tipped bolts.
