Ore
From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape
Ore (mass noun) is obtained from rocks via the Mining skill.
- Ore is a term for metallic minerals that can be smelted into metal bars with the Smithing skill and then made into armour, weapons, nails, etc. Crafting uses silver and gold bars to make jewellery. Smelting is done by a process called separation. The furnace heats the ore to its melting point, which makes the metal separate from the other minerals.
- Not all substances acquired from Mining are ores. Some other mineable items which aren't related to the Smithing skill are:
- Crafting - Clay is made into pottery, limestone into limestone bricks and uncut gems into gems. Granite and sandstone are made into a quest statue.
- Fletching - Gems are made into gem-tip bolts which can also be enchanted with Magic.
- Construction - Clay and limestone bricks are needed to make fireplaces, staircase, altars and support shelves, etc.
- Runecrafting - Pure essence and rune essence are made into runes.
- Summoning - Granite is used as an ingredient to make granite lobster pouches.
- Quest related mineable items include granite, sandstone and rubium. At one time, the blue rocks in the Grand Tree Tunnels could be mined for daconia ore, but this is no longer possible.
