The Obsidian cape can be bought from the weapon shop of TzHaar City for the price of 90,000 Tokkul. It sells back to the same shop , starting at 36,000 Tokkul. It is the only TzHaar item whose name isn't in the TzHaar language. It is also dropped by fighting monsters within the underground volcano city of TzHaar or as a rare drop from a revenant knight.
Due to its availability, no requirement to wear, and fairly high defence stats, it's an extremely popular cape among all types of players, provided that they can afford it.
[edit] Criticism
When the cape first came out, players who wore the Cape of Legends were outraged by the fact that the Obsidian cape, with no skill or quest requirements, provides even better protection than the Legends cape (which only has +7 for defence). It should be noted that the Cape of Legends costs far less to replace than the Obsidian cape, making the Legends Cape preferable for dangerous situations, such as PKing. Many topics of this nature can still be found on the official forums.

[edit] Trivia
After the July 2008 graphical update, on the lower left part of an Obsidian cape, a hole could be seen. This was fixed about a month later. However, you can sometimes still see the hole when sitting and focusing your camera in a certain position.
- The cape seems to resemble the Zamorak Cape in that it is black with a red stripe at the bottom, but the Zamorak cape doesn't have the obsidian strips running down it.
- The obsidian cape has the same stats as an untrimmed Cape of Accomplishment or "Skill Cape".
- Oddly, the Obsidian Cape has the same high alchemy value as the Fire cape, despite the fact the fire cape can be difficult to obtain.
